  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hundreds of pilgrims have descended on a Benedictine monastery for religious sisters in rural Missouri in recent days after news began to spread on social media last week that the recently exhumed remains of the contemplative order’s African American foundress appear to be incorrupt, four years after her death and burial in a simple wooden coffin.

Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, OSB, founded the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles — best known for their chart-topping Gregorian chant and classic Catholic hymn albums — in 1995 at the age of 70, leaving the Oblate Sisters of Providence, her community of over 50 years, to do so.

Known for her devotion to the Traditional Latin Mass and her faithfulness to Benedictine contemplation and the Liturgy of the Hours, she died at age 95 on May 29, 2019, on the solemnity of the Ascension.

Roughly four years later, on the solemnity of the Ascension in the Latin rite, the abbess and sisters decided to move her body to a final resting place inside their monastery chapel, a long-standing custom for founders and foundresses.

Makes me wonder how many incorrupt bodies some convents and monasteries may have. Saints of God, ora pro nobis.

There's some cool testimony on r/Catholicism from people who've recently made the journey to see her and it sounds pretty amazing.

One guy wrote,

Its been all over the news. Today my wife and I journeyed from Nashville to Kansas City (really its in Gower) Missouri
Can confirm, this body that has been dead for 4 years showed no signs of decay and had no foul odor. Used no embalming tactics either.
I felt overwhelming emotions when I knelt beside her and touched her clothing. Not of sadness or worry, but of empowerment. Of eagerness and rigor almost. Maybe because its Pentecostal Sunday today.
This was arguably the most memorable experience of my life. And after seeing her, the nuns there probably had the most beautiful collection of voices Ive ever heard...
Words cannot explain today

Also this is a good conversation between Eric Sammons from Crisis Magazine and his guest Andy Flattery about what's going on.
