  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the article though that idea that 'conservative Christians' are trying to block them entirely....sounds like it may be only a guess someone is making:

"Seoul Metropolitan Government disapproved the use of Seoul Plaza for the upcoming Seoul Queer Culture Festival (SQCF) scheduled for July, the festival organizers said, Thursday. It instead approved a youth concert organized by a Christian broadcaster.

According to the city government, Seoul Queer Culture Festival (SQCF) organizing committee and Christian Television System (CTS) Culture Foundation both applied to book Seoul Plaza for their respective events on April 3, 90 days before their events scheduled for July 1.

The city government consulted with the two parties on rearranging the dates last month, according to the regulations on the city square management, to which both sides refused.

In response, Seoul referred the agenda to the civic committee in charge of the management of Seoul Plaza, which consists of 10 civic experts from different fields, who then ruled in favor of the Christian group, Wednesday.
....
Yang said that, given the circumstances, the SQCF organizing committee "has no choice but to suspect that the Christian event was planned to oppose the queer culture festival."

--------

That looks like a guess, that 'suspicion'.

While the guess may or may not be correct, another factor is whether the competing event is more popular.

So, here's another guess: the competing festival event might be a much more popular event that is in greater social demand, and the civic committee is just being ordinary: picking the more popular group, because it's a democracy -- a more popular group usually will get chosen for a public venue.

Example: suppose you or I organize some relatively less popular new event that has zero to do with LBGT...we should not expect to get picked above various popular events for the venue normally held in the summer. So, we'd get rejected, and it would have nothing to do with LBGT.

Good. I am grateful for Christians to stand up for what is right.
I know. So many are getting sucked into this sickness. It’s gone too far. All of this we see has been predicted. We are living in the end times. We will start to see everything under the sun just like in the days of Noah. Sodom and Gomorrah. Nothing new in this earth.

Sodom and Gomorrah has nothing on us. We are worse.

Sodom and Gomorrah has nothing on us. We are worse.

While the evils of Sodom and Gomorrah were extreme:

49 “‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. " -- The Lord, in Ezekiel 16, on why He destroyed Sodom and her sister cities

We see there the serious deadly sins of:
1) Lack of charity
2) Haughtiness/arrogance
3) Detestable actions such as raping/murdering visitors to the city

But the New Testament prophecy for near the end says:

"1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. ..."

This list of sins is indeed very evil also...

It's hard to say what portion of the population is caught up in that though, but it's not 'all or 'almost all' really, not yet.

While in Sodom "all the men of the city, young and old" came to attack the visitors.

"all":

"Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house." -- Gen 19:4

So, if today in the U.S. we are a lesser amount than "all" or almost all, but much less, more like 1/2 or such, then we aren't there yet to the level of Sodom.

While very many Americans will slander those in another political party, such as Republicans slandering Democrats (and visa-versa), there are still very many of us that won't slander those in the other political party.

So, I think we are not yet at the level of Sodom.... though we have been sliding downhill as a nation....

It just seems really bad compared to say 50 years ago. But it can get worse.
