  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Between kl 11:00-11:30 the 8th of June year 793 began the Viking times on

Lindisfarne.

Northhumberland.

Then all hell broke loose, according to Magnus Magnusson, Icelandic historien.

Yes, the Lindisfarne monks were not best pleased at being but to the sword.

Some were put to the sword some were drowned some were taken prisoner and others were chased away.

Could be said, Divine justice.

The importance of doing repentence.

Without repentence all one's deeds will catch up, sooner or later.

Then it is a measure for measure, no more no less.

Some think they can get away with murder, but it will catch up on them.

if not now, later.

Yes, I dare say. The Vikings were lawless pirates. There was a deal of rape and pillage too.

The Danes, who were not all pirates but farmers, settled much of Scotland and England after a good deal of fighting. The effects on the British isles are still observable today - in the language, place names and the DNA of Northern inhabitants.

Northern European tribes settled all over Europe; the Normans conquered part of France, England and Wales - and parts of modern Russia, Italy and Sicily. And sailed to America!

You have a soft spot for Danes because you get your eggs and bacon from Demark?

Haha.

Truth: On Mythbusters, the scientists determined that a penny "traveling at terminal velocity cannot penetrate concrete or asphalt." It won't cause serious damage to a person, and even at the speed of sound, will still not damage flesh. At most, it could sting a little.

It turns out the trees were falling over because Corgis were weeing on them...

Dog urine is also thought to weaken tree bark over time, leaving the tree more susceptible to damage from pests as well as interfering with the proper uptake of water by the roots. But, more studies are needed to verify to what extent it could cause damage.

Most wasabi we eat in the U.S. isn't really wasabi.

If you enjoy wasabi with your sushi, you'd probably be surprised to learn that most of the wasabi we consume in the U.S. isn't real wasabi made from the expensive wasabi root, according to the Chicago Tribune. The wasabi you're eating? That's white horseradish mixed with ground mustard seeds and green dye.

This thread is closed. Some clean up was done. Some posts were off topic.
Some posts were unnecessary falsehoods.

FYI- Fred Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister, so he was Rev. Fred Rogers. He lived a godly life. Don't slander him.
