A Maryland mayor who was recently arrested on 56 child pornography related-charges has visited the Biden White House at least six times since June 2021, according to a new report.​

The mayor described Buttigieg as his political mentor during an interview with the Washington Blade in November 2019. He said he met Buttigieg, who was then the mayor of South Bend, Ind., when he was assigned to be Wojahn’s “buddy” at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Winter Meeting in January 2015. The pair then began speaking on the phone regularly with Buttigieg offering Wojahn tips on what to expect of the mayoral conference. The pair bonded over the challenges of being openly gay mayors, according to the report.​

Patrick Wojahn, 47, is scheduled for a bail hearing on Monday in a Prince George's County District Court days after he stepped down as mayor of College Park, a position he held since 2015 in the city just northeast of the nation's capital and home to the University of Maryland. The hearing was originally set to take place on Friday.​

Wojahn, who remained in county jail, has been charged with 40 counts of possession of child exploitative material and 16 counts of distribution of child exploitative material.​

Just take this as an example:

"Dennis Rader, aka BTK, was a church council president, caught because he used his church's computer to send taunting e-mails to authorities" I suppose that means that all Christians are responsible for his sadistic torture?

I haven't seen any defence of the crime here. The report is factually accurate, I'm sure.

I am not clear what there is about the case worthy of being discussed on CF. I am confident that there is very little to be said in favour of people collecting inappropriate photographs and passing them them around. So what is it about this case that is noteworthy enough to be offered for discussion?

It could be that the accused is a holder of public office. I think we all deprecate that too.

Ah, the man is a Democrat. Is that it? Surely not!

I don't think that is a failure. His party affiliation is irrelevant to the case. Unless, of course, someone thinks there is political capital to be made out of that. A cautionary note: it is just possible that such a blatantly partisan point could misfire.

There are rogues in politics in every party and in all legislatures; their political allegiance is their cover.

Having been 'guilty' of posting many similar threads, I can only imagine OP was motivated by the same reasoning. Concerned about the false impression that there is a wave of child abuse being perpetrated by drag performers, he is helping to restore the balance by showing that these monsters are more concentrated among pastors, coaches, teachers, politicians and (sadly, but obviously) relatives. People in positions of power and trust. People that parents may lower their defenses around.

We know that when a 'zebra' event like a drag performer being an abuser arises, it will be a screaming headline in some media outlets. So it's useful to show the parade of 'horses' that goes on all the time without as much shouting.
