I didn't think environmentalism had anything to do with the woke deal.
Haven't you being paying attention? Caring about the planet and other people is the very definition of being woke! Its really dumb.

I'm a PC gamer, so I feel compelled to scoff at Xbox/PS gamers no matter what they do.

It doesn't, but that doesn't stop right-wing outrage peddlers form whining about stuff. They made the same complaints when efficiency standards were applied to light bulbs.

I'd add that I can play my PS5 on my couch next to my wife and daughter, whereas PC gamers are stuck sitting in their racing chairs, alone.

Dumb! Just plain dumb.
A dirty little secret of "green" energy is that if you have an option to chose green and do so, the electricity you use may come from non-green sources. That's because if you choose "green," the best you can do is to buy the capacity. of "green" generation. Your electricity is going to come from the closest source. If that's a coal fired plant, guess what: you're using electricity from it. If you can purchase "green" capacity and know that's what you're doing, so be it. If not, you're not getting what you think you are.

What does all of this have to do with Microsoft's "energy saving" feature? Plenty. Because if there's not a "green" source nearby, your XBox isn't going to be using "green" energy. There's also the question of how Microsoft is going to make this determination, and pass it along to each XBox. That sounds a lot like "XBox phone home," which doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. But Microsoft determining when "green" power is available also begs the question of where are they going to get this information. The US power grid is divided into different regions, and these in turn are further subdivided. Where they get power at any given moment can be muddled. And they're just going to let Microsoft know where they're purchasing electricity at any given moment? I doubt it. Some things about this doesn't add up.

Such as this basically means that it's in in its special power saver mode when the sun sets if there's not local wind generation. Guess what: Wind turbines don't work everywhere. Look for DOE maps that show wind generation potential in the US. And if you don't have "green" power where you live? Too bad, so sad. That's assuming, of course, that Microsoft can accurately determine who has "green" power and who doesn't and this isn't an exercise in virtue signaling.

Of course, you can save even more energy just by not having an XBox. That looks like an even better option.

I was paying attention, woke was about self interested social cliques. the environment tended to not fit in because those social cliques each incorporated a lot of different economic and political groupings.

I hate that I can get labeled as either leaning to the right, or the left on some topics, as if they get to have the monopoly on that or those determinations, etc...

Because I am very excited about vehicles/sources of energy/technology that I can basically have and use/generate/sustain myself, without having to be dependent upon the government, or the system, or it's grid, etc, and I really don't get why more people on the "so-called right", are not very much more excited about this, etc, unless it's because both sides have control of each of it's people's own minds, that are all only driven by who/what has money where, and that's the only real issue that is only seeking to be furthering the divide here, etc...

Anyway, I live in Oregon, and much of our power, grid-wise, is a lot of hydro-electric power around here, etc...

God Bless!

HDMI cable and wireless controller solves that problem...just run it to the 4k TV ;)

Plus, it makes me glad I stuck with Steam/PC for my games now that I've kind of ditched "the traditional living situation" and been doing random travelling and living/working remotely on the road for the last 4 months.

I can just keep my gaming laptop with me and and use it for work & play.

I do miss having my work PC at home. You can do a lot with a RTX 4080 in a Xeon-based Dell workstation.

When I got rid of my condo and switched to the "road life", my gaming desktop went to "temporary storage" at my brother's house (although I suspect he won't want to part with it when the time comes). But am actually pretty happy with my gaming laptop.

It's an ASUS with an RTX 3070 so it gets a good framerate with all of the modern games as far as graphics go. And it's beefed up enough on the other specs so that it works well as a work PC as well where I'm often times running multiple instances of Visual Studio 2022 along side Docker (which are resource hogs as I'm sure other devs can attest to)

I mean "woke" has become the new "socialism" in that it means anything the Right doesn't like.
I guess from the right's perspective. But in terms of how it works socially, it doesn't fit.
