This is just a simple question. But somebody knocked on my door in the middle of the night. I did not answer. I just called the police. They are doing a sweep to make sure everything is okay.

The thing is I never get knocks on my door in the middle of the night. So, I got scared. Did I do the right thing?

No one should be knocking on doors this late. Think you did the right thing. I also wouldn't of answered. Did you peep through the door to get a look at them?
Yes, but I saw no one. But they were there because I can still hear them.

One of your neighbors may not have been so wise. You did a good thing and protected your neighborhood.
I remember that. Thank you. That is helpful. I did not think about that. But I am glad you pointed that out. Thank you

You have to do what you feel comfortable doing, what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. If you were not comfortable and at peace with opening your door then you should not have and don't let anyone make you feel guilty about that by trying to twist Scripture.

One night around 1 or 1:30 someone knocked on my door,
I live in an apartment building as well and we all have a shared door.
Now the thing is my neighbors almost never knock at my door,
when I get a knock it's usually random people looking for someone..
this night I get a knock and I heard someone respond when i asked who it was but it wasn't very audible.
I hesitated to open the door so i figured, "i got a chain lock I'll use that" (i remembered thinking why am I doing this? how was this behavior Christian?)I put the chain lock on and went to open the door the chain on the chain lock flew off the lock itself hitting me in the mouth as i went to open it.
it was just someone looking for someone.
It taught me a lesson though,
when the LORD comes knocking sometimes it's not good to try to lock him out

I believe so .... this happened to me once and I did the same thing .... it was 2:00 in the morning on a unbelievably cold night, I was indeed a little bit frightened about it ... but was also concerned about the person possibly needing help ... so just as you called the police. Have no idea of what might have come out of it.

Sounds like you did the right thing. We live in a very unstable world.

Someone in legitmate need would have been talking to you through the door trying to explain the problem and identify themselves.
