My dad has Strep Throat and just started taking antibiotics about 24 hours ago. He was really bad off, having a urinary tract infection from it. I think his infection is getting better but has cough that seems worse and seems to be getting laryngitis.

Last night I got something that I think is a minor cold. I don't get sick very often. I often go 3-5 years without missing work or getting seriously sick.

My mom I think has something similar to what I got, but she has got lots of bigger problems already, e.g. - using a walker, taking heavy pain meds etc.

Thanks for all the past previous prayers! Happy New Year!

Thanks all. My dad is being closely monitored by 2 physicians since he has 3 life threatening conditions. His infection is of special concern because of the potential of Sepsis aka blood poisoning. I already had one uncle on my dad's side that died from that 3-5 years ago.

The prayers worked well thanks. We however got a new one, my mom has been in cognitive decline the last few years and incident happened this morning, that scared us and forced my dad to look into some kind of nursing home/ assisted living options for our area.

Well gang I have felt better from the prayers on the cold front, but I think I'm slowly getting a Bronchial infection. I have it in mind, to got to an Urgent Care place 1st thing Monday morning and get some antibiotics / antivirals, but before I do that think with some prayer, some natural remedies (plan to eat some antiobiotic food like raw onions and garlic), and a few easy over the counter products like cough syrup and cough drops we might be able to lick this thing. I started gargling with Listerine already based on one of the posters suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks all! I seem to benefit from the prayers and some of the other new stuff I'm doing.

We are however calling the paramedics on my mom, right now. It's been over a day since she ate anything. She is stuck in a perpetual stupor, if you talk to your she can talk or grunt to acknowledge you, but pretty much wants to keep on sleeping. She has had a cold or something like it with a cough, but her breathing now sounds an awful lot like an instant coffee pot brewing.

My mom currently is on a ventilator in the ER. The doctors are going to try to get some of her vitals up in the next few days. I think she is mostly asleep and unaware of stuff going around.

I think the family and extended family are fairly well prepared in the event of her death, since her health has declining gradually for years, and the Family on average is pretty devout Christian: conservative Lutherans (parents, my aunt Marie and deceased grandparents), pious Roman Catholics, serious Bible Church Evangelicals and a few dedicated Presbyterians, and me.

I would say my dad really did a great job preparing for retirement and other kinds of related problems like this long ago, as far as managing his benefits as a very high-level former Department of Defense employee, as well as coming up with reasonable plans and mutual spousal agreements when it comes to giving a proper or common-sense level of care (not needlessly breaking the bank on a lost cause etc.)

Aw! I’m so sorry! May the Lord receive her and give you and all she knew and loved comfort and the peace that passes all understanding.

Keep us updated when you get the chance @Pavel Mosko. Continued prayers.
Well, my oldest brother is driving up from San Diego County, and he took a week off from work, it's both cool and a little bit premature, because we likely will have some different hurdles to get to the memorial service (He is 90% likely to have to come up a second time). We probably could use his help on some various things since he is very smart and organized, he is a software programmer and manager by trade. My niece Clare, his daughter took things the hardest when she learned about her grandma. Since my part of the extended family is sparse on women, my niece should inherit a decent amount of jewelry coming from my mom former deceased relatives as well as newer pieces purchased by my dad and myself, so that alone might be worth the drive from Southern California.

This morning I realized that I have Bronchitis (coughing up yellow Phlegm). I tried to go to the nearest "Doctor's on Duty" to get some serious antibiotics or antivirals for it and I found they were closed in spite of what Google said.. I went back home because I felt pretty good and thought I had a better idea (seeing my dad's doctor instead)., I basically ducted out because it looked like the perfect time to get some quick help because more heavy rain storms probably coming in again later in the evening for another two days. Anyway, I learned from my dad that my new idea is not going to work out due to the specifics of his doctor and care provider, so I will most likely go back to plan A on another day in the morning when their are no flood warning in my area.

And my dad's pastor called him an hour ago, and they have a meeting set up Monday or Tuesday to start planning things and of course giving my dad some moral support, and pastoral care.

So that is about it, as my dad says "Now you know everything I know" :)

Continued prayers for all of you. These times are difficult. Being sick on top of everything is not good.
