I am new to Christianity, I was brought up in an Atheist household so never learnt about any religion. What advice would you give?
Talk to who ever helpped you become a Christian, about what church to attend.
Or check out the christianityexplored web site for churches in your area and start attending.
If there is a course running sign up, that way you will learn about Christianity, meet some Christians nd find out about there churches.

Hi Jaxxyy. Welcome to CF!

My first point of advice is: don't easily take the advice that you're given.

I kinda just started getting curious about it, so I brought a Bible and a study bible for teenage boys. I am petriefed to go to Church to be honest.

Well, that's understandable. I've had a rocky relationship with other Christians my entire life. I'm sure there'll be bumps in the road for any of us who decide to put on the backpack of faith and go hiking into the wilderness... it does require some resolve.

If you've bought a Bible, then it sounds to me like you're at a good starting point.

I've heard all sorts of stuff though, so what order do I read it in?

Any order you like. But I'd start with the New Testament. Pick one of the first three Gospels maybe. It's your choice.

What ones are the Gospels?

The first four books in the New Testament. The first three are similar in their narrative structures; the fourth is different in the way it portrays Jesus and in how it arranges accounts of moments in His life and ministry.

Should I read them in Chronological order?

You don't have to. What kind of Chronology would you like to engage, Jaxxy? Authorial chronology or Historical chronology?

If you're new to the Christian faith, but you're a former atheist, then it's up to you to decide how you want to engage all of this.

You are free in that regard. Actually any three of the synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, or Luke) would be fine. Mark is the shorter one. Matthew is the one many churches will be using this year. Whichever you choose in that regard would not be wrong.

In reading the Old Testament a chronological approach can be smart. The ordering of books in most Bibles is not all chronological. I’d recommend Jeff Cavins Bible Timeline in that regard.

Not surprising. But being a Christian is not a ‘Jesus and me’ kind of thing but also a group thing. So as you progress you will need to overcome that fear. With so many choices it can be overwhelming. Listen to your heart guided by the Holy Spirit. You would not have gotten this far without responding to that same Holy Spirit calling you.

A good Bible. There are lots of different Bibles that different people prefer. Over the years I have used several different ones, including the one you have. I am now using the ESV and liking it. Good English, a good modern translation with roots in the RSV. For now the one you have is fine.

Church to me seems extremely daunting to be homest, I am home schooled because of my anxiety towards group things

Honestly, there is a lot to figure out in deciding which local church congregation and which denomination feels best. Some are more fiery; some are more laid back. Some are conservative politically; some are very liberal.
