I've read a few publications about it. Now given that some people are trying to peddle a book one way or another, you don't accept it full circle but pay attention to some details that might come out. One book did research on the type of pollen grains & bacteria found in the Middle East region that were found attached to the shroud & it was consistent. Another book also probed the substances found on the shroud. First the Swiss team in 1978 never tested for blood; that should have been a no-brainer. The substance was dried up blood & if memory serves was B- or AB-. Corresponding anthropological research indicates that Jewish people tend to carry AB or B types. Now years after the Swiss investigation, this is what I learned as a masters student in geology. Carbon dating is not completely accurate & this is why it tends to date things as younger. When a material is further exposed to some fire or flame, it will then reregister its carbon imprint now made younger by the exposure. In other words if a car backfires over a piece of grass, the material in that patch will now register a younger imprint than prior to the exposure. In the history of shrouds, it was all too common that where they were housed, there were fires in churches or burning candles nearby & this in turn would make any remains younger. The shroud had been in a place that eventually went up in smoke. Now the Daguerrotype is what gives the lifelike image & its plausible. In turn those in archaeology & theology have visited the various sites in Jerusalem, the burial customs, & how dawn/dusk are configured according to Jewish custom. So it is now entirely plausible that this indeed is authentic.

Threads on here about the shroud are many.

I have looked into it quite a bit over the years and i cannot see any other explanation than the shroud has to be of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I thought since the shroud is a Catholic artifact that, it's part of Catholic teaching that the shroud is real. That's why I had an option for "Catholic."

Vatican is open minded about it. It is not a part of Catholic teaching.
