If no one gets to the Father except through Jesus, and you can only accept Jesus when your mortal body is alive , how did all those before the cross get into heaven or are they all in hell or is there part of heaven that you can go to that you can’t get to the Father?

The people who died before the cross were saved through faith in the promised seed just as we are. In John 8:56, Jesus said that Abraham rejoiced to see his day and was glad.
So do you believe that they did not have to “ confess with their mouth and believe in there heart that Jesus died, and rose from the dead for sin ?

They were saved by faith in the Promise (Seed; i.e., Jesus Christ, Ge 15:5).

Those who have died prior to the advent of Pentecost are dead ....actually anyone who has died is in the grave sheol ... (that is the state of the dead not the place) nobody in heaven save, God, Jesus, and the angels.
We have been judged righteous in Christ....But those prior to the administration of grace will be in the resurrection of the just and the unjust.

In Romans 10:5-10, our faith references Deuteronomy 30:11-16 in regard to saying that God's law is not too difficult for us to obey, that the one who obeys it will attain life by it, in regard to what we are agreeing to obey when we confess that Jesus is Lord, and in regard to the way to believe that he rose from the dead. In Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so becoming zealous for doing good works in obedience to God's law is the way to believe in what Jesus accomplished through the cross (Acts 21:20).

I don’t understand what that verse has to do with Abraham and his acceptance of Jesus. This verse seems to say that his descendants will be more than he could count. How does this apply to what I am asking

Galatians 2:16 “ because no flesh at all will be vindicated from observance of law” it sounds like you think that by observance to the law we are saved?

Our salvation is from sin (Matthew 1:21) and sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4), so while we do not earn our salvation by obeying it, living in obedience to it is nevertheless intrinsically part of the concept of Jesus saving us from not living in obedience to it. There can be any number of reasons that someone could have for obeying God's law, so verses that speak against obeying it for an incorrect reason should not be mistaken as speaking against obeying it for a correct reason. While Paul denied in Romans 4:4-5 that we can earn our salvation as a wage, he also said in Romans 2:13 that only doers of the law will be justified, so there must be a reason why our salvation requires us to choose to be doers of the law other than in order to earn it as a wage, such as faith insofar as Romans 3:31 says that our faith upholds God's law.

Ever read Hebrews 11 and that great list of people of faith in the OT.

Why do you think they were called men and women of Faith?
Why was David, a man after Gods own heart?

Could it be that they, along with a great many others believed God and trusted in him.

It is God who saves and it is God who knows the intent of our souls, spirit.
God knows those who had the faith to believe in him and he is able to save them, taking the blood of sacrifical animals as the blood of Jesus.

All the promises were made to the singular Seed, Jesus Christ (Gal 3:16).

Abraham believed in the promise (which was of Seed, Jesus Christ, Ge 15:5); i.e., in believing in the promise, Abraham believed in Jesus Christ.

The promise of seed being made to Christ, it is Christ who will have more seed (in the body of Christ) than he can count.

Jesus went and preached to them while He was in the tomb, check 1 Peter 3:18-20 and 4:6

If faith in God would save them then why did Jesus die when faith in God would get the same results?
Without the shedding of Blood there is No forgiveness for sin. is why Jesus had to die.
God being outside of time chose to grant them salvation based on their faith.

In John 14 Jesus is talking to the 12 and not making general philosophical statements.

Who is able to walk “through” a person, so what does that mean? Jesus is the “word” and the “word” has been written on everyone’s heart, so in that way can people reach God through the word written on their heart?

Words on a page do not get people to heaven, God saves people by looking at their hearts where the real Word is.

Are you trying to put limits on God mercy, by using a book?

The personal relationship is spending time with him through prayer and by reading his word, His Word is the main way He communicates with us humans.

Those before us believed (trusted in God) of the coming Messiah ... so it was and still is through faith .... ie ... does one believe that God does and will do what He said He would.

The bible states we are mortal (subject to death). there are two deaths .... earthly (temporal) and then the 2nd death (for eternity)

Those who die earthly death rest (described as a dormant sleep in His Word) peacefully in the grave until Jesus returns and the 1st resurrection (of the saved) happens when Jesus returns .... the 2nd resurrection (of the lost) happens later. Hell is the grave .... not some "burning place" where people go to be tortured.

and yes .... all have and do make the decisions while they are alive.
