  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The article notes that Colorado Springs is a hotbed for fundamentalist Christians. I believe Focus on the Family is located there.

They are considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center because they lie about LGBT people and defame them.

This isn't the forum to debate such things but I have spent years studying the Bible and the Bible simply doesn't have a single consistent view of "family values". Jesus never married, and his remarks about the subject were ambiguous about the value of marriage. He said nothing against gay or trans people.

Why? because they say its a sin and depraved stuff? it seems preaching that we need to repent from our sins can get you labeled as a hater.

Doesn't have family values? what are you reading? Yes it does have family values, just reading a bit you learn, sons and daughters need to obey there parents, wife and husband must be faithful and love each other, women shouild submit to their husbands, and marriage is between a woman and a man, people should not have sex outside marriage, and respect your elders, among other things.
