I am starting to prefer music over tv, movies and other video nowadays. I find I can do other things when I listen to music which is not same with video. Over the years, I have been seeing a growing need for music in my life because it has helped me get through tough times. I do have a tv yet leave it unplugged and covered with dust cover a lot now. I really don't see much need to watch it anymore. I find praise, worship, classical and some instrumental smooth jazz is what is speaking to me right now.

Yes, you are right. At a young age, I was so addicted to tv, & movies. I think this was my biggest mistake. it wasted most of my time But now, I understand how much potential worship music has. At starting it was so difficult to learn the chords of the worship songs but with the help of Worshipchords, youtube, etc it becomes so easy for me to play the chords of worship songs. I appreciate you starting this topic.

I’m not a regular tv viewer. I have to be in the mood. We got rid of our streaming channels. We didn't watch them enough to justify the expense. At this point I really enjoy educational programming or topics related to the arts and culture. I read a lot and nurture lifestyle topics at home (i.e. food and decor) but no longer watch them. I live it and that’s enough.

I find inspiration here and there. But I like to do my own thing and that’s the difference. I’m more counter cultural than I admit. We’re wedding things out little by little and adding substance in its place. Being unplugged has its benefits.

I'm with you. I listen to jazz most of the day; smooth jazz lol. I don't have a tv; gave that up years ago.

I find that music helps me focus do the things I want to do. For example, I'm listening to my Spotify collection while I am typing this.
I also have a DAB set as I enjoy listening to radio.
By comparison, my TV viewing is very selective. Apart from watching the news, I rarely switch on the terrestial channels, and tend to use the TV catch up apps on my digital box.

Never really thought about it.. but music might be my most used medium. My attention span is horrible... so playing a video game or watch a movie or a TV show is something I can only do so much. I usually prefer listening to music and browsing the internet during my free time.

I don't really like it actually... there are brief periods where I can force myself to play more videogames and watch more films... but I usually become lazy again and revert back to mindless music and internet scrolling. Right now... I'm definitely in that period.

Music and video occupy two different roles in my life. As Quiet Soul said, it's possible to listen to music while doing other things, so I have music playing the whole day while I'm working.

When it comes to broadcast TV I tend to mainly watched sport. Also the occasional series and movie, but I have a load of boxsets of classic science fiction TV shows and I'm slowly working my way through all of those. So that's my main TV watching, although I also follow a number of YouTube channels whose content I find interesting, so there's that too when it comes to video watching.

i agree 100 per cent with you. i don't have a tv anymore, if i do ever want to catch up on a programme or documentary i just watch it through my laptop. classical music is one of my favourites, plus its calming. i like doing my own bible reading/studying while listening to classical music in background.

I like watching music videos, or cinematic and wide-screen music videos, or "lonley" music videos. Worship music videos of 90s and early 00s Hillsong are staples that are watched so frequently that I feel I am mentally more present with their worship videos than the people there at the time based on the repetition and extent those videos have been replayed. Riley Clemmons is also a great gopsel music singer who has brilliant cinematic quality music videos.

That being said, a music video, played in HD, on a large screen can definitely compete with a TV-show or movie as it's usually a few minutes long, it's easier on the mind, and can evoke memories or experiences related to it. I'd more likely look at them if I'm feeling lonlier than usual or there is an emotional upset verses a TV-show or movie.

I go through phases, but music is always my preference. Cinema is what I'm currently all-in on, though. The difference between streamed and physical media is amazing, so I'm having my own little renaissance rewatching old favourites in 4K, as well as newer releases.

I prefer music. Not only is it easier to multitask while listening, but my mind provides the visual imagery. Similar to reading a book, and how the visuals we get from a book are often better than the movie.

There's also a subjective element to most good music. We supply much of the meaning ourselves, and are less tied to the official intent than with television programming. In fact, it's common for musicians to strive for ambiguity, so the song becomes personally meaningful to the listener. When I was a kid, it used to bother me when adults assumed all lyrics were about drugs or whatever, when that wasn't what they meant to me.

I have a TV but it doesn't get much use beyond news, if there's a severe weather threat, or Westerns for my cat. He likes watching the horses.
