Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, so excuse me if this has been tackled before (I'm guessing this charity has come up in the past).

I was looking for a Christian charity to donate to every month, and I came across Christian Aid, who appear to do a lot of work to help poor people around the globe. However, having read through their website, I noticed that the organization is active in areas not just focused on poverty, and uses a lot of language that's open to interpretation.

Example 1: On the 'Women's empowerment and gender equality' section of their 'What We Do' page, you'll find "Christian Aid Ireland believes that gender justice is about achieving equality and fairness between women and men but also that gender is a spectrum, which includes transgender women and men, intersex persons, and anyone who identifies outside of these definitions. We are committed to ensuring equality for all."

Example 2: In their "From Inspiration to Impact" document, it says "We support the work of our partners to campaign and lobby those who can change practices and structures that maintain inequality and poverty". Obviously this can be interpreted in many ways. i.e. What are the "practices" that Christian Aid takes issue with, what "structures" Christian Aid is aiming to change, and what "systems" does the organization want to challenge?

Some of the language on their website screams "intersectionalist" and some of the coalitions of which the organization is a part are openly "radical and intersectionalist", using language you'd find in many extreme-left movements and organizations (many of which could be considered anti-Christian; effectively anti-Western Civilization).

I'd love to get people's thoughts on this charity and what I've listed here.

Thank you kindly,

Denisovic

Based on your reservations about the Christian Aid organization, I would encourage you to find another charity to support. There are so many charities out there that I'm sure there are many that embrace a mission that you are more comfortable supporting. It sounds like Christian Aid is very far to the left politically, and maybe you are more to the right or center. I'm guessing that there is a charitable organization out there that aligns more closely with your principles.

Denisovic, you know more about the organization than me, but I think any organization enabling the LGBT movement should not be counted as a worthy Christian cause. There are too many good, Godly organizations needing financial help to warrant compromising of Biblical principles.

As a related example, the U.S. has a few outstanding Christian organizations doing highly effective work, but I won't give them money when the CEO is making several hundred thousand dollars per year. I think it's our duty to be picky and prudent to where our limited funds go.

No I wouldn’t support them. Nor would the donation have the Lord’s blessing. I can’t financially support initiatives that oppose His word and expect a harvest (30-60-100). I’m aiding the devil’s work.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, so excuse me if this has been tackled before (I'm guessing this charity has come up in the past).

I was looking for a Christian charity to donate to every month, and I came across Christian Aid, who appear to do a lot of work to help poor people around the globe.

Christian Aid was founded by Christians.

Yes, Christians should stand for, and promote, justice and quality for ALL.

We don't choose our sexuality or gender, and no one, from what I've read, tries to transition for the fun of it.

Some of the language on their website screams "intersectionalist" and some of the coalitions of which the organization is a part are openly "radical and intersectionalist", using language you'd find in many extreme-left movements and organizations (many of which could be considered anti-Christian; effectively anti-Western Civilization).

I haven't fully investigated their website, but I doubt there are any charities whose policies are/can be accepted by everybody.
If a charity offers help, support etc to certain communities, there will always be Christians who shout "they are condoning sin". If they help people from a certain country, people will shout that they are colluding with dictators/anti Christian policies.
Some may be considered racist, yet it could be said that the Jews of the Bible were racist; insisting that they were chosen and therefore had special status over everyone else.

It depends how important these things are to you and how you interpret them. They will have to answer to God for their beliefs, you my just be asked to account for how you give to the poor.

Since when has feeding the poor, rehousing the homeless and refugees and standing for justice been the devil's work? (Hint, See Matthew 25:31-46)

If you want to support the charity do so. If my conviction leads me elsewhere so be it.

Of course.
I was just challenging the statement that their work of fighting poverty, feeding the hungry etc is the devil's work, when Jesus tells us to do just that.
