Considering that Trump praised Putin's preparation for the invasion, I find it hard to believe that he would have done anything to stop it if he was in office.
Hard to know. Trump admires Putin. Even wants to be like him. We are really going astray to speculate what Trump would have done. Who cares. What should the U.S. and N.A.T.O. do now? Let's stay relevant.

And by the way. I think our narcissistic self indulgent immediate gratification culture is terrible unprepared for the kind of sacrifices that might be called for as in the days of WWII & WWI. I pray it does not com to that.

So you never read what Trump actually said.

Do you have any idea how much innocent suffering that would entail? Do you really want that?
How many people are suffering now? How much suffering could have been prevented if Putin actually feared NATO?

It is disturbing that in this time of national and international crisis even this is political fodder.

Republicans descend into foreign policy factionalism over Russia-Ukraine standoff

Former President Donald Trump privately has signaled a split with more isolationist voices from the MAGA wing of the party who have excused Russia’s aggression, who themselves are at odds with more establishment Republicans over how to confront Russian aggression, if at all.

Republicans descend into foreign policy factionalism over Russia-Ukraine standoff

This is how the country came together after 9/11. And today Republican can’t wait to bash President Biden. The former President and Sec of State praising Putin.

“In the immediate aftermath, I expressed my full support for my Commander-in-Chief, President George W. Bush. I think I spoke for a whole lot of other people who felt exactly the same way. And tonight I reaffirm that support of the President's conduct of the military campaign in Afghanistan. I appreciate his candor in telling the American people that this will be a long struggle – for which the nation must be braced and its political leadership united across party lines. “ US Vice President Al Gore, February 12, 2002

Russia has launched over 100 ballistic, both short range and long range missals fired into Ukraine in the last 24 hours.

Hey joe - where are you?
I'll echo what other posts are asking - what do you propose he do? I see lots of allegations and implications that President Biden is doing something wrong, but none of those posts seem to want to step up and risk offering an alternative path he should be taking.

As far as I can tell, their expectation is that Biden should have rattles his sabers harder, including the nuclear sabers.

As Putin did:
“Anyone who tries to interfere with us, or even more so, to create threats for our country and our people, must know that Russia’s response will be immediate and will lead you to such consequences as you have never before experienced in your history.”

I can picture the former US president saying this. The difference is, Putin would actually do it.

Not much he can do now. That is the point. Biden and NATO could have done something as soon as he started to amass his army. I have said a couple of times here that NATO forces should have been deployed in and around Ukraine as soon as Russia started to amass their army. Putin cannot win a war with NATO nations and would have backed down. Calling it just a military exercise and he never intended to attack. Instead, Biden telegraphed that we would not do anything if they invaded. Basically inviting Putin to attack.

I can picture the CURRENT occupant of the White House hiding in his basement wondering what he can do to placate Putin.

Okay...you obviously did not listen to anything Trump said. Trump thought Ingram told him that U.S. troops were beginning an amphibious assault IN Ukraine to fight AGAINST the Russians. Not that U.S. troops were beginning an amphibious assault on Ukraine. Trump was scolding Ingram for disclosing classified troop movements before she cleared up the confusion.
Again...apologies. All I have are his exact words to use against him. The direct quote "you told me about the amphibious attack by Americans. You shouldn't be saying that … they should do that secretly."
Amphibious attack.

Amphibious attack.

attack.

Snopes has a transcript of the interaction:
Ingraham: […] we had a really pathetic display from the Ukrainian President Zelensky earlier today President Trump, where he in Russian—he didn’t like to speak Russian—but in Russian, he was essentially imploring Vladimir Putin not to invade his country. Now we basically have the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Nations looking like a defeated man. Your final reaction?

Trump: Well I think the whole thing again would have never happened, it shouldn’t happen, and it’s a very sad thing, but you know what’s also very dangerous is you told me about the amphibious attack by Americans. You shouldn’t be saying that, because you and everybody else shouldn’t know about it. They should do that secretly, not be doing that through the great Laura Ingraham. They should be doing that secretly […]

Ingraham: No […] those are the Russians amphibious landings.

Trump: I thought you said that we were sending people in […]

Ingraham: No, I did not […] that would be news!

Trump: [….] that’s all we need, that would be next.
/
I kinda wish I knew what he said next. IT sounds like he is about to disparage the idea of sending troops in.

One idea I saw that would have been a FANTASTIC counter measure against Putin. ALL Nato and all other Western countries sieze ALL Russian and Russian citizen assets valued over 3 million dollars within their country.
Russian oligarchs know how crappy it is there. That's why all their GOOD stuff is in other countries. We should just take it all. I'm curious if you could drive a wedge between Putin and all his rich buddies by doing something like that.

Anyone else have thoughts on that?

So instated of condemning Putin for starting WW3 you would rather patronize your president.

Your perception of the current president isn't going to change Putin's behavior.

He did eh?

Is that why he canceled US.S Korea Naval exercises in a failed attempt to negotiate with N. Korea?

I'll grant you this. Trump barked very loud. His bite was missing.
Also the Syrian Kurds might disagree with Trump as “brilliant tactician”.
