Have you been to Victoria?

Yes. It was back in the late 90s. We did an orca-watching tour. Not in a boat, but in an inflatable zodiac, right on the surface of the water. We were as up close and personal to the orcas are anyone can get. It was uber-cool. We didn't have time for high tea at the Empress, but we had a great dinner at the Sooke Harbor House. (Is it still in business?) I bought a print (of a whale) by a local artist at a gallery. Victoria seems to have more of that British colonial vibe than Vancouver. But both are very attractive, cultured, and civilized places to be.

Good Day,

They did.. and the Biden's DOJ losses another *SMACK UP SIDE THE HEAD*

5th Circuit Court grants a stay, allows Texas abortion bill to go into effect

In Him,

Bill
More money for liberal states. Since people will need to go somewhere else to terminate a pregnancy. Or they can order the pills on the internet, from different states or countries. If I lived in Texas I wouldn't even go to the doctor in Texas , If I were going to terminate. This isn't like before the 70's . People have access to find places for abortions.

Now the question is what state goes full Decree 770 in the race to make abortion the most illegal. Place your bets!

^^^^QFT. Winner of the Internet! Clever, cogent and a tiny bit obscure. Excellence in electrons.

For that judge -- the baby has no rights.
Legally and scientifically there is no baby in this scenario.
It is impossible to abort a baby because by definition a baby is something that has already been born.

Most of us understand the distinction between 'foetus' and 'baby'. A baby has been born. The Christian churches make this distinction. Babies are baptised; foetuses lost through miscarriage are not. To be consistent in this 'doctrine of the unborn child' miscarried foetuses would be treated as babies.

I have not seen any examples of miscarried foetuses or embryos being considered in this way. Perhaps there are verifiable cases...

And on to the Supreme Court by perhaps next week we will have a more clear picture of how hard they are going to nuke Roe.
They need to stop playing games, to please some people. Many of the people they're trying to please, have had abortions or caused a women to choose to abort. .

Ah, but how many of them will be listening? I have a feeling that some of them made up their minds on abortion long ago.
THe focus of the arguments will be the odious workings of the law not the legality of abortion itself. Hopefully the new justices are not such hacks that they will rubber stamp such bad law because the ends justify the means.

No I could not type the above with a straight face but perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised.

The difference is in intent. If she had no intent to carry the fetus to term the law would not apply.

Good grief and I thought I am the pessimistic one.
At this point I fully expect Roe to not survive the case that will be heard in December but even my level of pessimism does not foresee a wide federal level anti-abortion ruling so much as it being kicked back to the states. There after we get to see how far the states where anti-abortion laws are vote getters will go to out do each other in making it super secret double illegal and just how much of a farce that will become.

My money is on Idaho going full decree 770 first.

Congress, the CDC, WebMD, and 38 States, clearly disagree with your assessment.
