I know. Especially those that are mutually exclusive.

I pointed out an inconsistency between two conspiracy theories that a certain poster believed recently. His response? Start talking about a third conspiracy theory.

Lol.. watch the video..its NOTHING like the left again is painting it to be. Man that guy is NOT the president yet.. the left and others keep him in the news. A fact that has always been true.. ANY PRESS is good press.

Not the president anymore, you mean.

Did we notice anything here? President TRUMP telling people to get the vaccine...its still your choice. That is NOT what this is about.. its about BOOED

Right -- people boo the vaccine even when Donald recommends it.

WOW! No matter what that man does.. "A he told them they should get the vaccine is not that a good thing?... He got BOOED!" He hahaha wow.. Yet listen to it I did.. some did most didnt. Some cheered...what happened before that.. what happened after? Ooh that won't be talked about lol

When President Kennedy visited Dallas in 1963, ooh, nobody talked about how most people didn't shoot him in the head.

Well, at least the "boos" would let the health-conscious members of the crowd who they should avoid like the plague.

In that way it might have served a purpose.

If nothing else, we've learned that we need to retire the phrase, "avoid like the plague..."

Yeah, I don't think the point of any of the coverage is to try to bash Trump for promoting the vaccines, in fact, those outlets probably recognize that as a positive thing.

I think the point was to highlight that we have people who've become so ensconced in "anything pertaining to covid is just a leftist/globalist control mechanism", that they'll actually jeer a guy who they seemed to revere, simply because he said the vaccines were good.

When you court the votes of conspiracy theorists, don't be surprised if they expect you to buy into every conspiracy theory they can come up with.

My crystal ball must have been working pretty well that day.

Donald Trump booed at Alabama rally after encouraging his supporters to get vaccinated against COVID-19, video shows

"I believe totally in your freedoms, I do, you've got to do what you've got to do," Trump said to the crowd. "But I recommend that you take the vaccines."

The former president then told his supporters that the vaccines are "good" and once again encouraged them to get a shot.

"You've got your freedoms," Trump responded to the jeers. "But I happened to take the vaccine."

This suggestion was met with boos, as can be heard in a video shared by Vox journalist Aaron Rupar.
Fair enough. What was booed was the specific statement that "I recommend you take the vaccine".

Not the statement that he took it, and certainly not that he said "I believe in your freedoms" and that "you've got to do what you've got to do" (something most decidedly absent at the moment).

Just that latter part. People can believe what they like. I'm sure they are vaccinated and unvaccinated/previously recovered in that crowd like anywhere else we go.

Apparently he does -- he risks losing his followers.
Not sure about that. Considering the circus going on right now in Washington, I think anyone saying, "Hey you should do this, but I respect your freedom to choose to do what is right for you, between you and your own physician" will not lose support on that basis, anyway.

Donald's not in Washington. He was speaking to his (so he thought) loyal followers who would (so he thought) cheer him on no matter what asinine conspiracy theory he spouted off.

But encouraging vaccination was a bridge too far -- one I suspect he won't try to cross again.

I personally support Donald Trump and I voted for him during both elections. I am glad that he is encouraging his supporters to get vaccinated. I'm honestly surprised that he is doing this. I did not think that Donald Trump would be in favor of vaccination but I am happy to know that he is in fact, in favor of vaccination against covid-19.

I, too, was honestly surprised that he attempted this, and will be honestly amazed if he ever attempts to do so again.

Yes they will. At least if they are talking about pregnant women.

We shall see. Did he mention that pregnant women should get this injection? I didn't hear that.

But I did hear him say that he respects your freedoms. All the "my body, my choice" people should logically get behind that.

What's weird about conspiracy nuts is that they seem to believe in EVERY conspiracy theory.

But of course -- conspiracy theories exist to make powerless and insignificant people feel a little less powerless and insignificant. After all, how bad off can they be if they can see through the plots that THEY have so intricately weaved?

Logically, the more powerless and insignificant you feel, the more such theories you'd need to latch onto to feel better about yourself... and every barrel has a bottom.

I think you missed my point. For a Republican saying "I respect your freedom to choose to do what is right for you, between you and your own physician" only works for vaccination. If you are talking about abortion you will definitely lose support.

The principle is the same. IS it "my body, my choice" Or is it not? And one cannot trot out the, "But hey, you could affect another's body with the virus (though both vaccinated and non-vaccinated are equally able to spread it)" without realizing the logical contradiction in that the developing baby inside the mother is also "not her body". It's someone else's body that she is voluntarily (except in cases of attack) hosting.

So one cannot have it both ways. Either we respect bodily autonomy as a principle or we do not. You don't get to respect it for the "correct" political causes.

You can if you're a man -- "bodily autonomy" need not apply to fetal incubators females.
