Hi John

I mean in prophetic scripture. Say like Isaiah 47:

I would say it represents those who are innocent of the crimes of those countries, that they should repent and seek God and his forgiveness.

In Eastern Orthodox theology, virginity is representative of apathiea, or dispassion. We're struggle to be not controlled by our passions. If Eros, erotic or passionate love is the height of our human experience, then virginity is the opposite. It would be summed up by Paul: "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything. - 1 Cor. 6:12

Hi John

Have you read Isaiah 47 I do not think you are correct.
I agree, but how does this sound to you like your OP asks: an Individual worshiper or a Church / Spiritual Belief? To me it sounds like one who is experienced sexually but pretends otherwise. (It could be 'young girl' I suppose.) But it is plainly referencing Babylon, so not an individual; and not a church, nor a spiritual belief, as she was used by God in punishing Israel.

Hi Mark

Look at these two sections one from Rv: 18: and then Isaiah 47 and then.

Rv:18[7] As she glorified herself and played the wanton, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning.Since in her heart she says, `A queen I sit, I am no widow, mourning I shall never see,' [8] so shall her plagues come in a single day,

Is: 47[7] You said, "I shall be mistress for ever," so that you did not lay these things to heart or remember their end. [8] Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, "I am, and there is no one besides me;I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children": [9] These two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day;

Hello All

So what does the Virgin Represent. an Individual worshiper or a Church / Spiritual Belief?

Please post verse to back your understanding...Thanks
A prophetic virgin appears to be a young nation, that hasn't been unclothed and penetrated by the warfare of another nation. However, could not find a reference to when a nation that was previous called "a virgin" was called something else. The passage below is the closest reference offering a distinction .. that I can remember.

Isaiah 47

1 ¶ Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
2 Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
3 Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

John 1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed,
in whom is no guile! [deceit, falsehood]

Revelation 14:
4
These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.
These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before
the throne of God.

As opposed to those who have not the love of the truth.
2 Thessalonians 2:10 with all unrighteous deception among those who perish,
because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
This is what we have been told.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
There are many who claim that they are saved by grace through faith.
There are many more who deny the love of the truth by the guile of their lips.

The following quotes show how more than one nation was referred to as a virgin daughter.
Isa 23:12 And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest.

Isa 37:22 This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

Isa 47:1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

Jer 14:17 Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.

Jer 46:11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.

The following quote also displays there are contexts where virgin means an individual.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Since Isaiah is a prophetic scripture, and has examples of a figurative and literal virgin, it depends on context.

Yes; are you making a point, or just adding to the list, or what?

Well I am trying to see if there is any agreement on what this word means in prophetic scripture In Jeremiah it mirrors Isaiah in that it appears to meant the people of a Nation and their belief system.

Jer:18[13] "Therefore thus says the LORD: Ask among the nations, who has heard the like of this? The virgin Israel has done a very horrible thing. [14] Does the snow of Lebanon leave the crags of Si'rion? Do the mountain waters run dry, the cold flowing streams? [15] But my people have forgotten me, they burn incense to false gods;

So the question then becomes does this hold true in the NT

2 Cor 11:2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Here Paul Refers to the Church as a Virgin

Being a virgin is not prophetic. It is stating a past state of being. Both Israel and the church were to remain virgins. I do not see that as happening in reality.
