There's that lack of reading comprehension skills. Nowhere did I pretend they don't exist; and as a childhood rape victim, I don't enable them. I'm just pointing out the perhaps millions of Muslims with child brides. Sure we might have thousands of pedophiles who try to hide it rather than millions who flaunt their prepubescent brides.

In the united states. It's no surprise at all.

Authoritarian religious organizations routinely attract psychopaths and narcissists, to the point that no educated person should be surprised by such behavior. These religions often lack accountability structures that would characterize responsible social institutions.

It's just rich to rant against the random pedophile pastor who gets thrown into prison and publicly chastised and humiliated for being a disgusting creep when your own people take child brides by the millions and it's just wonderful in that culture.

He could be a professed Christian but he will be first and foremost a paedophile hiding in plain sight. It is a fact that paedophiles can be found (and often are, far too late) in positions of authority and trust. They might be scout leaders, choir masters, ministers or priests; recent cases in the UK have revealed them acting as football, swimming and gymnastics coaches.

The profession is only relevant as a means of access to minors.

While standards of what is, and is not, age of consent vary from culture to culture, every culture is disgusted by the notion of abuse of trust, whether they are Christian or Muslim (or Buddhist or Hindu). So I really don't see hypocrisy here.

NO! Just...no. MAPs (Minor Attracted Persons) are becoming a thing in America. You say something like this they'll latch on and use it to excuse them molesting kids. I don't care what the culture is. Children can not think for themselves, or fend for themselves. They do not understand consent.

It's not so black-and-white. It's not like somebody flips a light switch at 18 and people become competent and were previously incompetent, even if laws of consent must to a certain extent be arbitrary to be universalized. Humans don't really become fully mature till around 25 in terms of their brains and cognitive capacities, so if you took that logic to it's extreme, the age of consent should be raised to 25, not 16-18 as it is in most western countries.

Or 14 in Germany and Portugal, 15 in France and Poland and 13 or 14 in Italy.

Informed consent and psychological maturity are factors. It isn't true that minors cannot understand consent. Children need to be protected from predatory paedophile attention, but not classed as imbeciles.
