The world is ever-changing and a year and a half ago we could have never predicted we would be where we are in the world as it is now. I thought it would be fun and maybe even optimistic to share where you would like to be 5 years from now.

Do you see yourself living somewhere else? Children? Married? Caring for your parents? Buying a house? Finishing a degree? Starting a career? Traveling to the other side of the ocean? Running an ultra, climbing a mountain, scuba diving with sharks, destination biking, or learning to stand up on a surfboard? Volunteering or helping in another country? Paying off that last debt? Learning some kind of new trade? More engaged in your church? The possibilities are endless.

I (hopefully) see myself starting medical school in 5 years.

Probably at least married
I hope so too. I pray that a suitable helper is being fashioned for you and you both can have a service heart for each other ❤️

(hopefully) see myself
That's great, takes a lot of discipline to begin or finish medical studies.

Living in France. Wearing impeccable clothes. With a digital and physical business in place and lots of travel
I can envision you doing this :)

Most likely by then I'll have started different job & have made some connections at church.
I'm pretty sure I can see you doing both of these. Prayers as you move forward in this plan :)

Interesting that most of this is worldly optimistic appraisals.
I don't see that kind of thing at all.
I see a lot of things getting worse before ultimately getting better (though I don't know if that getting better will be in 5 years)... but It's.. the world. I don't really think about myself within that world or what will happen to me. I only look forward to Christ at this point.

Thank you sweetness. Come to France when you can and I'll make you a pretty dress for your beloved.

Ce sera parfait, je vous promets. *smooch*
O my gosh yes! That will be my first order next to a visit to the UK. I've only been to France once. My plan after living in Japan was to live in the UK for 6 months, Spain for 6 months, 6 months Ireland and 6 months france. But I needed money to pay off my college loans, and decided to continue forward with my plans to be an officer in the air force. And also, look out after my health since it was deteriorating my fourth year in Japan. So was my biological father, I wanted to be able to spend quality time since I had been living away for 13 years.

For France, I dreamed of having a nice apartment in France and enjoying the culture and matching purses, matching shoes and outfits. I've heard that when you go shopping it's not like in the states where everything is separate but everything is matching and together. My prior plan was to work at a vineyard for the 6 months that I was going to stay there. I had a friend that did that.

I think that is optimistic, this world is passing but Christ is forever. And that should be the focus. What an opportunity we have to be a light in a dark world and a witness. When we are comfortable I think it is harder to grow in our faith. We have the opportunity to press to Jesus or rely on the world for our peace. Joy does not come from material things. And yes things may get harder ahead, and there's going to be a real distinction in our faith. But it doesn't mean that we can't still make a plan, for we know neither the day nor the hour.

You can still do it. Nomadic living is very popular. I know a few who do. If you go that route then blog/vlog it. You'll get sponsored trips.

They hire seasonally for the harvest. Some farms do as well. You'll have a blast.

Possible. But I will be much older when that could be open up. For now, as stated in my dating profile, I cannot relocate since I am here for my parents. But it doesn't mean that I won't plan for a trip once my debts are taken care of. Most likely 2024 to 2026 range. Of course if finances suddenly take a turn for the better, it might be much sooner that I spend some time there. Have to think about how much vacation time I can save up also with my work.

It's hard work. But we shall see what the future brings :)

That can be a good thing:oldthumbsup:

Hoping the same with marriage. What are you doing for preparing off grid living?

Good goals:oldthumbsup:

:D

Some of the things are checking to see what costs truly are, what sort of safety issues are likely, plans for potential emergencies (both environment and health), review of potential legal issues. Just some of the items being reviewed.
