Is the Nazi-friendly CEO of Coca-Cola still in office? No? Then it's hardly a comparison to Dan Cathy, who is the same homophobic jerk he has always been.

Another example of trying to imitate Cancel Culture and hilariously failing.

The 12 Coke vending machines on Surry County property were owned and operated by Coca-Cola Consolidated, an independent bottling company headquartered in Charlotte. Commissioners voted Monday to rescind the previous vote after company representatives pointed out the error during a public forum in which several residents also voiced their objections.

North Carolina county ends Coke vending machine ban after pushback

At the end of Monday’s meeting, Commissioner Larry Johnson — who abstained the first time — moved to rescind the board’s vote.

Harris, who introduced the first vote, and Commissioner Van Tucker, who seconded it, stood by their initial vote in favor of the ban.

“I am holding my ground because I feel like that’s the right thing for me to do,” Tucker said Monday. “I was trying to send a message to the flagship Coca-Cola and if there were some casualties beneath, sorry about that.”

So the cancelers got their cancellation cancelled.

This failed even more hilariously than I anticipated.

That's nice.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina GOP is trying (and hilariously failing) to make Coca-Cola suffer for no reason but petty vengeance.

Agreed, which is why I said it was a stupid tactic and made fun of it.
(my whole statement about how I doubt that Coke execs would be fretting about the $18 in lost revenue from the 3 vending machines they removed)

Obviously not...which is why I asked how much time has to pass?

In the case of Chick-fil-a, they are a private company owned by the Cathy family. They could do a lot to become publicly traded and fire Dan Cathy.

...but that still doesn't negate the fact that it's just a case of people prioritizing one form of human mistreatment over another based on their own personal convenience impact.

"Hey, Dan Cathy, will you change your LGBT views?"
- No, I'll keep giving my personal money to those causes, but, the company will change our corporate giving habits, and instead focus education (by sending 8,000 of our employees to college every year), homelessness, and fighting hunger in inner city communities
"Grrrrr, that's not good enough, hey everyone, don't buy their stuff!"

"Hey, Tim Cook, will you stop sourcing things from slave labor in China? And Jeff Bezos, will you stop overworking/underpaying your employees, and y'know, give them a break longer than 15 mins since it can take 10 minutes just to walk from the warehouse floor to the breakroom in the massive warehouses, and will you stop funneling money toward union-busting efforts when they try to organize?"
- No, but we'll tweet #BLM and
upload_2021-6-9_20-3-32.png
"
"Okay, you're cool...I'm so happy to support businesses that believe in human dignity"

...and lets be honest here, Dan Cathy giving money (in, what equates to, negligible sums in the realm of political giving) to failed organizations that zero chance of influencing policy stands to do a lot less damage (if any at this point...I can't think of the last time any of the orgs on his giving list actually had a policy "win") than Bezos throwing millions at anti-unionization efforts (and subjecting his employees to a one-sided "Know the facts before you sign a union card" HR training course), and Tim Cook funneling billions into unethical Chinese labor practices.

That's why I'm asking for consistency here...

People who claim "I'm never going to give a dime to chick-fil-a!!!" are making about as much of a sacrifice (in the name of human rights) as a person who says "I'm never going to buy another Ted Nugent album again!!!"

It's basically a meaningless gesture that's "easy", and involves no actual sacrifice.

Yes, but in light of recent events, we can no longer say they're failing at it.

They already failed.

Yeah, the left hates when the tables get turned on them......

We don't care if some yokels want to throw a tantrum in a meaningless gesture against a soda pop company. It doesn't bother us one bit.

It seems you did not get the memo.

The company which ownes the machines was NOT Coca Cola, but a local firm with Coca Cola in their name. Something I said was most likely the case early in this thread and has now been confirmed.

Oops!

Ironic that the link that has that information a few posts ago is to Yahoo! So It seems to be a mistake even Yahoos wouldn't make. (A Swift search in google with explain what a Yahoo is for those who do not know).

EDIT: Pun intended and capitalization matters!
