I won't be discussing American politics with you, DD, but I do agree that weak policies and lax prosecution are probably bad things. That would be true at any level, so be careful here! :sorry:
I don't blame you. ;) I know very little about politics in other countries other than what is so outlandish that it is interesting enough to read.

Something I do know about American politics: there is no actual evidence of systematic fraud in the presidential election last November, yet many people believe the Democratic Party cheated.

Let me say that I have been following this election and its aftermath as closely as I can in the UK because the result is actually important for Europeans and our security. I have managed to understand the system and have watched as lawsuit after lawsuit aimed at stopping Biden's progress has collapsed.

You have been very straight in expressing your views. So let me ask you: why is it that the Right cannot accept the result?

Thankfully that wont happen. The threat to public safety would be intolerable, even with our current high threshold in the USA.
People who fly in commercial jetliners give a collective sigh of relief. ;)

i.e. I actually agree with that. I spoke (posted) out of turn in that previous post.

In real life, most people -almost all, are willing to trade away some small amount of liberty for temporary security. Its the price we pay for civilization. Even Ben Franklin, who I'm paraphrasing, was, obviously - when you look at what he actually supported.

I do agree with that. I think the friction is really just about where the sweet spot is. That's why we have zoning laws. I don't want my neighbor setting up a chemical recycling facility.

Did they shoot themselves in the foot?
in a way they did... too much corruption and not actually doing what they said they would do.. They could have quashed all the Gun control laws in one fell swoop with Title 18 Subsection 242 of the Us Code, which is also the 14th Amendment "Deprivation of rights under color of Law."... they were lobbying for both sides to make money not protect our rights...

Stuff like this is why I became an independent 16 years ago.

Even the Supreme court ruled that the 2nd amendment was protected by the 14th amendment, several times actually.

It's kinda funny how we find ourselves arguing over the same stuff, over and over. After this last election I'm just bowing out of political discussions, even on political sites. It really is pointless these days.

At this point, the bed has been made and it's time to lie in it. We'll learn from the next year or two what we did wrong. Those of us that survive it, anyway.

Does this mean that there will be an acceptance of the election result?

That point is moot. How many accepted the 2016 results? We are in interesting political times. Let's see how it plays out. ;)

'Moot' is a word that can have different meanings in our language. In British English it means 'debatable, undecided'. Is that how you are using it here, or in the American usage 'having no significance'? This may be a subtle difference, but I like to be sure.

For me it means, "Why are you arguing what has already been decided?" -- Malcolm Reynolds, captain of Firefly.

That is, the decision is made. The argument is over. I don't fight last year's wars. I learn from last year's wars, fight today's wars, and prepare for tomorrow's wars.

I have never heard the word used like that. (Winston Churchill remarked that our countries were divided by a common language.)

It seems that you have conceded the result. That answers my question.

Now: what wars remain to be fought? In the context of a thread about holding weapons this begs some clarification.
