Allen West histrionics ... who woulda thought ???

I'm sure the President and Vice President of the United States are going to use their massive platform and extremely limited time to denounce a county chairman nobody heard of a week ago. Because there is absolutely nothing else more pressing they could be attending today right now then some faux outrage from the Texas GOP.

As a matter of fact, there's a long list of people whom "Nobody heard of" before they became front page news because of various racial incidents.

That didn't get previous presidents off the hook if they tried to avoid responding and taking the moral high ground. Still, this is Joe Biden, so....

I think the guy did himself. From the very same article: "Texas Democratic Party chair Gilberto Hinojosa said Wednesday the “oreo” comment was “a mistake for which Chair O’Connor has profusely apologized and taken responsibility for.."

And what's with all this Marxist business? West (whom I have never heard of before, but he seems a touch excitable) also said this:
“The point is they’re going to use this racial divisiveness, which is the new Marxism for them, as a means to force their ideological agenda..."

The new Marxism? I'd wager that West wouldn't know an existing Marxist if one of Karl's buddies hit him upside the head. All that book learnin' to get his master's degree in political science at Kansas State University seems to have been a waste of a good educational facility.

Five minutes of research gave me all that info. Including the fact that he has a masters in political science. Doesn't it puzzle you that he then doesn't appear to know what Marxism is? I guess he didn't really mean 'Marxism' but was pulling out a buzzy little term that seems to be the mot de jour for Republicans who want to frighten their voters. Maybe 'liberal' doesn't have the same impact these days.

Note to self: Brush up on knowledge of all 500+ members of Congress plus all ex congressmen and women and watch more US political news reports so that when a politician says something inane I don't have to Google him or her.

No matter the political "spin, The "Grievance" Party can't erase the fact that the face of congressional Republicans remains almost exclusively white, wealthy, male septuagenarians!

Just how much political capital do conservatives really want to invest in this controversy, given that it also reinforces Tim Scott's dubious distinction as the one and only "token," black Republican Senator in Congress?

The idea of lambasting the knowledge, background, and smarts of someone you've never heard of before, and parading that before people who have...that's one thing. But what was the reason for the outburst? Oh, it's that he supposedly doesn't know anything about Marxism.

But what he said was that we need to be aware of something he referred to as a "new" Marxism.

When he or any of us puts the matter that way (a new Marxism), it automatically means that we are referring to what we see as something different from orthodox Marxism. So to denigrate him as not knowing what Marxism is all about is based upon, well, nothing.

So this is what it takes to get the Right to support cancel culture...

He's got a buzzword he can use in place of an argument and he uses lazy rhetoric instead of honest debate. And 'outburst'? Gee, one doesn't need to get too excited to point out the shortcomings of those who think that divide and conquer is a political strategy (although they seemed confused in that it's the opposition they are meant to divide). Maybe he's one of the new Republicans. You know, the ones that refuse to accept the democratic process.
