Honey, made by bees from plants.
Well, meat is made by animals from plants.

Still, I can't get over how out of touch this guy is to not know what beer is made from.

Kudlow is very consistent. He is always wrong.

He used to just say dumb things about economics, some of which were plausible, but since entering the Trump White House he's branched into a jack-of-all-errors effort as the guy who is always wrong.

It feels like a brain fart. He probably meant Alcohol free beer.

Where did anyone see Kudlow say that beer was anything other than plant based? I watched the video. the only time he mentions beer is when he says "you can throw back a plant based beer with your grilled brussels sprouts and wave your American flag." . Beer and Brussel Sprouts are both plant based and Kudlow does not say a word about either ever having been meat based but now having to be transformed into plant based products in order to meet Biden's proposed standards. Mary Papenfuss' trying to convince people that he thinks beer is meat based is only wishful thinking on her part and not in any way born out by what Kudlow actually said. If she wants to convince people that Kudlow is stupid( for all I know he may be) she should try finding actual evidence that supports her belief rather than taking a sentence and pretending it means something that it does not.

Has anyone here tasted plant based hamburgers? I’d be ok with them if they taste reasonable.
Yes. Tried the Beyond Burger, captured the taste of a gourmet beef burger perfectly. Though at £5 for 2, not cheap.

It's the fact that he spells out that beer is plant based that makes it silly. Does anyone think it's meat based?

My doctor sent me a blurb I can no longer find saying that by the time you make it palatable there is enough junk in it to make it as bad for you as meat.

If only we had more actual grass fed beef instead of that corn fed monstrosity.

Meh, a slip of the toungue while ranting. It happens to everyone.

What's really funny to me are people who are defending such a slip of the toungue and re-defining words until it seems like he actually meant to say that and had his argument planned out like that.

What's next, fruit-based wine? Honey-based mead? Milk-based cheese? When will this leftist nightmare ever end?!

Yeah, but I think the plant based stuff is being pushed more because of resource use than health. I'd investigate carefully before committing to them for health reasons.

I’m not a beer guy, but I thought it was made from grains. Which are plants. Are these guys for real?
Well, some beers do use ingredients derived from animals. Isinglass, in particular, is a fairly popular means of clarifying beer and that's derived from fish.

There was actually some minor news a few years ago about Guinness ceasing to use fish guts in their beers:
Which is the isinglass I mentioned before. It's just a type of gelatin. Saying Guinness had fish guts in it is like saying jello has pig bones.

That was the point. For health reasons they are a non-starter, as bad as meat.

I eat little meat anyways. But I do like the taste of the grass fed stuff and it's got better fats than the feedlot beef. Bison has very healthy fats, if only there was more of that and the grass fed beef. I think one of the best uses for prairie is Bison and Beef low intensity farming. We would have somewhat less meat that way but it would be ecologically better and healthier. Anything to cut back on the principal agricultural weed - corn.
