Many long for the "good old days". They want to return to a particular time period.
Where do you all stand?
I think it's only natural for people to have a certain nostalgic feeling toward the time they "came of age" in, so to speak.
I still love listening to grunge rock from the 90's, watching the movies I grew up with in that era, and still fondly think of the the time period from 1993-2003.
Barring some sort of uniquely bad experience, the time period in which a person was age 10 through age 20 is always going to have fond memories. It's when they were making friends, "growing up", having their first romantic experiences, being a little rebellious and coming into their own, deciding what they want to do with their life...
Objectively speaking, as the saying goes "two things are always true... things are always getting better, older generations are always thinking they're getting worse".
The people who grew up in the 60's thinking they were part of some "radical change" are now in the age group that overwhelmingly votes "conservative"
...and you don't even have to go back that far to see certain shifts.
In the year 2020, you're more likely to find a republican who supports pot legalization and gay marriage than you would be to find a democrat who supported those things in 1996.
I think everyone establishes a certain "comfort" level based on the Overton Window of the time they grew up in...so even people who viewed themselves "radical" and "voices for change" for their day 40 years ago may find themselves being uncomfortable with changes happening in the present time.
