* Orthodox Topic*
I thought I had started the catechumen process late last year when I first met with the priest at the cathedral we have been attending. I have been exploring Orthodox Christianity for close to a year and attending services since late fall of 2020. I emailed my priest a few questions last week after he reached out to me. I have been reading the books he recommended, continuing to attend services and completed the stewardship pledge. He replied to the questions I had regarding a sponsor and spiritual father and mentioned this:
“
Father___ and I were thinking that we would do a service to officially welcome several people interested in becoming catechumens right before the beginning of Great Lent.
This would be a very brief service following Vespers on Saturday, March 13.
Would you be able to join us for this?”
Perhaps I’m not officially yet a catechumen after all but will be soon! This is exciting and I spoke with my husband who to my great surprise has decided to meet with the priest next week and may be joining me in the catechumen process! This is nearly miraculous and an answered prayer. Glory to God!!!
I was wondering if it would be acceptable to invite my Protestant best friend to this service? I would really love for her to experience the beauty of Orthodox worship.
Another question is regarding what I should wear? I just want to make sure I’m dressed appropriately. I normally just wear a modest dress to services but wasn’t sure if there’s anything specific I should avoid like wearing black (or white) etc. Thank you in advance for any advice.
