This is a very harsh statement but let me explain why I believe this is an inevitability.

1. The moderate middle is of necessity shrinking. Both left and right are taking a stron stand on their positions and rejecting compromise. Many positions cannot have a compromise.

2. The Trump Acquittal for the second time. In times past ( I am 66 so remember those times) when something this grave was finished, the losing side would say why they disagreed, but said the decision is in and it is time to move on! This is not happening on this.

3. The left is screaming about teh "feckless unpatriotic republicans" who did not vote to convict Trump! His lawyer had his house vandalized, his family threatened and his business threatened. For performing a constitutional duty!

4. Even when the unedited videos showed that the house managers manipulated the videos to say something that did not happen, instead of going away they doubled down on the lies!

5. We have had in the past 13 months, the extremes on both left and right do deapicable things. Poor Boys, white nationalists, BLM, and antifa have wrought great harm in America and further polarizing America.

6. They cannot be unity anymore in govt. both sides are set in their agendas and they are in many cases diametrically opposed to the other side! So unity is incapapble of being!

7. As the left has most of the college professors, hi-tech media, standard media and the two branches of govt. and so the greatest microphone, they are further fanning the flames. Instead of voicing their disagreement then moving on, they are fanning the flames that will ultimately erupt in the fires of civil war.

8. Being a member of the "right" most just wish to live their lives in peace and work their jobs, raise their families and live and let live for the most part. the left is not allowing that more and more and this I know:

The right is comprised of most of the ardent Christians and also th emost ardent originalists.
we all tend to be patient and take pushing to a point. But if teh AOC's and Harris's of the left get there way, there will be a violent pushback for the simple fact that the left does not wish the Christian conservative to live peacefully and voice their feelings loud and strong!

9. It is the left that has the "cancel culture" speech suppression on college campuses, and seek to "re-educate the right and censor free speech on the hi-tech media. And I am not talking about violence (though they still allow "pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon" to be posted) but conservative talk and speech is removed.

I hope I am wroing, but I fear I am correct.

You may have missed the fact that the Capitol is already wired off and under control of the military. In most other countries that would be called a coup. Your congress is calling it self defence. Same thing.

It's entirely possible. However, the addiction to social media would act as a hampering for any real action on the side of the left.

A downside of cancel culture is, (for those who use it as a power) if you cancel all your social media and do not participate, they cannot reach you.

Some of this is silly. There have been no calls that I know from Democrats to storm Maralogo and string up Trump. And law enforcement seems to be doing pretty well at getting to those who participated in Jan 6. The main exception is Trump himself, but the Republican Senate leader is suggesting he would support charging Trump in court.

I think it is wreckless to frame disagreement among Americans as a potentiality for civil war. It's probably more accurate (and more charitable) to say that the extreme ~1% on the Right could clash with an extreme ~1% on the Left, while those of us in the Middle 98% will be shocked and bewildered by the needless conflict aroused by these polarized ~2%.

So, both polarized extremes need to recheck their facts and calm down ...

Normally I do not post on this type of subject, but I feel compelled to do so. First, the Original Poster did a great job at explaning his case. Second, while I feel the above will NOT happen, it would not surprise me if it did. However I know America is full of nice people who just want to serve Christ and help people. I feel a nation that has Gods mercy will not fall to the civil war being spoken of. Just my thoughts.

If there was it certainly wouldn't resemble any civil war or the past. No re-enactment a hundred years from now. This would more resemble street gang warfare as already seen in the cities, or what occurs in the middle east between tribal factions.

How so? When did God suddenly relinquish His governance to the governance of man. Not going to happen. Jesus died to establish that fact. His Kingdom come, His will be done... not man's.

I disagree. He is assuming that the blue half of the US is as likely to respond to the trial with violence as the red half was to the election. That’s just silly.

Except for the occasional insurrection when things don't go their way?

Over emotionalism is dangerous. If Christians would stop relying on feelings and political partisanship they’d see the way forward with prayer and God’s direction.

This isn’t about right or left. It’s the constant display of extremes by those submitted to God. We need temperance and a cessation of fatalistic thoughts and fears.

Whatever may befall America is in His hands. We don’t ponder satanic maybes. We stand on the truth and in the gap for the citizens. Prayer is the remedy. Not speculation.

The radical left has been torching and trashing this country for decades.

I believe America is acting out the script God wrote for her long ago. Now is a good time for nominal Christians to consider 'coming out of her'. (It's nice out here. :) )
