What a shameful legacy the last president has left for his successor. The only reason they believe this is because they've been lied to for months on end by their president and right wing media. There has been no evidence presented of a stolen election or Biden winning through illegitimate means. The proper thing to do for the sake of national unity would be to at least acknowledge Biden won fair and square.

The courts have spoken, the electors have cast their votes, the votes have been certified, independent agencies headed by Trump appointees have looked into the claims of fraud and found nothing out of the ordinary for any election. Even Trump himself seems to have finally accepted the reality that he lost. If none of this is convincing enough then at some point we have to just accept that nothing will convince these people there was no stolen election and move on past them.

Like I said, a good start would be for the half that haven't moved on from the election to just move on and drop this "stolen election" nonsense and join the rest of the country in bringing the pandemic under control and helping to get the economy going again so we can get our lives back to normal. Those two issues should be of primary concern for every American regardless of party preference.
I think a good start to bringing unity would be to call on congress to abandon their second impeachment attempt and move on.

How do you suggest the "brainwashed" Trump followers become "deprogramed"?
Internment camps have been suggested. But it will probably be something lesser, like mandatory "re-education" classes. This is after they've been fired from their jobs, their voting rights and their access to social media and publications revoked, and so on.

I agree. The Impeachment is a done deal, but in the interest of unity (at least in Congress) the Senate trial could be dropped, or indefinitely postponed on the ground that here is more important work to be done right now.

There's no way around it. If we accept Biden won fair and square then the former president is guilty of spreading a lie about the election that resulted in the riot at the capitol and several people killed. That cannot be ignored. The government cannot be undermined by the chief executive. A step toward unity would be personal responsibility (which the Republicans used to believe in) and that would mean accountability, even for the former president. I agree the impeachment is not likely to result in a conviction but that doesn't mean the Congress doesn't have a responsibility to uphold the system of checks and balances they've been elected to preserve. That the president has broken his oath of office doesn't mean anyone else is free to as well.

One thing is absolutely going to have to happen is a massive education campaign about how the voting system works. How votes are counted and checked, how the processes is supervised and audited, what potential faults and weaknesses lie in the system and how election officials counter them, complete and detailed. One of the reasons the "stolen election" fantasy was able to gain such traction is the ignorance of the electorate about how it all works.

Who is it exactly, who has caalled for "internment camps?"
Several members of Congress, at least one well-known TV news commentator, the lawyer for another prominent TV network, assorted celebrities, and others.

Some are calling for mass censorship and re-education (indoctrination camps)...like AOC.

I don't follow Ms. Ocasio-Cortez closely, because she's not the Representative from my district. Can you point me to the news article where she called for censorship and re-education camps?

Any evidence of him doing any of that during his time in office?

Not yet, but he's only been in office 4 days. Ask me again in a couple of months.

If you mean, during his time in office as a senator, then I do see some evidence; namely, that Joseph R. Biden Jr. lists then-Senator Biden as the sponsor or cosponsor of a number of bills that had cosponsors from both parties. Some are pretty lightweight, like the issuance of a commemorative stamp, but others are more substantial, like the DREAM Act and an amendment to the Patriot Act. I'd say that a history of cosponsoring bills with a mix of Republicans and Democrats is a hopeful sign.

Not when, in his very first days in office, he also decides to attack the members of the other party with a number of ugly names and accusations.

But it doesn't seem as though the majority of Republicans want to go back the the older "more moderate" GOP.

Morning,
And that is a huge concern. IMHO there are five general forces in American politics, progressive left, center left, center right, conservative right and then the extremes. Without the center left and right leading the way for bipartisanship, the wings start to dominate especially for congress and the presidential primaries. I do believe that the wings give the extremes a feeling that they have a voice but it does get adapted and re-adapted for actual policies to be handled at the centers. However, with the extremes on both ends dominating the wings of each party, the centrists are shouted down. Now all we have is the extremes yelling at each other and making the situation hotter than it should be.

President Biden on Monday will sign an executive order aimed at pushing the federal government to buy more goods produced in the United States, a key part of his campaign pledge to revive domestic manufacturing.

The executive order will call for increasing the amount of U.S. content that must be in a product for it to be considered made in America under existing “Buy American” requirements.

All Biden can do is promote policies that help American workers and American companies and the American people.

I expect another longer-term task on his plate is to get China to buy American agricultural products again, so American farmers no longer have to rely on government subsidies.

As you suggest, millions of American minds have been poisoned against him. It would be difficult to address that directly, so instead his actions will have to speak for him.

Here are some notable quotes to include AOC.

"No seriously…how *do* you deprogram 75 million people? Where do you start? Fox? Facebook?

We have to start thinking in terms of post-WWII Germany or Japan. Or the failures of Reconstruction in the South."

WaPo’s @Eugene_Robinson to @nhannahjones: How do we “deprogram” Trump supporters? pic.twitter.com/LnFrAd6NXZ

“The white supremacist cause is futile. It’s nihilist,” the New York Democrat said during a town hall event on Friday. “There are people who are radicalized right now. It’s going to take a very long time to deradicalize these people and a lot of effort.”

Ocasio-Cortez added that “healing is possible” and that “we need to double, triple, or quadruple the funding” into programs that “deradicalize” brainwashed white supremacists."

AOC pushes for more government funding to deprogram white supremacists

To name a few...

I am not talking about in office as president. I am talking about in office period... He has been a senator for 37 years.
