2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions

Transgressions of what?

and sins,

We know that sin is transgression of the Torah. I wonder why Paul makes a distinction between two types of transgression.

This much we know; We were dead in our transgression of the Torah.

Paul is speaking to those who began adhering to the Torah.

2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

They used to follow HaSatan who is at work in those who are disobedient. Disobedient to what? It would appear that they are disobedient to our heavenly father through their transgressions, including transgressing the Torah.

3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh" and following its desires and thoughts.

Romans 3:23 since all have sinned (trangressed the Torah) and come short of earning God’s praise.

Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

So when Yahshua died; our sin (transgression of the Torah) is to die with him.

Galatians 2:20 When the Messiah was executed on the stake as a criminal, I was too; so that my proud ego no longer lives. But the Messiah lives in me, and the life I now live in my body I live by the same trusting faithfulness that the Son of God had, who loved me and gave himself up for me.

As Yahshua was raised from the dead; we are to be reborn in faithfulness to YHWH's word, his Torah.

Isaiah 30:1. Woe to the rebellious children, says the Lord,
Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin.

We received faith through teachings in the Gospels, Acts and Epistles. This is how we differ from some Orthodox Jews who consider these writings blasphemous.

Ephesians is one of the Epistles. Ephesians was written at the same time, or before some of the Gospels. Paul didn't mention the Gospels in his letters. Paul taught from the TaNaK.

Orthodox Jews do not consider the TaNaK, especially the Torah, to be blasphemous.

Here is what Paul said concerning Faith:

Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

When Paul wrote that, most of the NT, including half of the Gospels, had not yet been written. None of the NT was yet to be considered scripture. That happened much later. Paul was talking about the TaNaK. The TaNaK is the word of Elohim. Yahshua was the Word of Elohim in the flesh.

Yahshua words were his father's words. The TaNak contains his father's words.

(CLV) Jn 14:23
Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone should be loving Me, he will be keeping My word, and My Father will be loving him, and We shall be coming to him and making an abode with him.

(CLV) Jn 14:24
He who is not loving Me, is not keeping My words. And the word which you are hearing is not Mine, but the Father's Who sends Me.

37 “In addition, the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. But you have never heard his voice or seen his shape; 38 moreover, his word does not stay in you, because you don’t trust the one he sent. 39 You keep examining the Tanakh because you think that in it you have eternal life. Those very Scriptures bear witness to me, 40 but you won’t come to me in order to have life!

Yahshua was the TaNaK in the flesh.

Re-born into that lifestyle as when we were made in His Image...BEFORE sin...which His will be RE-made AGAIN into His Image putting on His Immortality...halleluYah

Acts 15 gentiles were freed to hear Moses taught every Sabbath as James concluded...

Those 4 things were IN ORDER for the gentiles to continue to hear Moses on the Sabbath...Acts 15:21

You may indeed work 7 rest 3 just like some were allowed to make a golden calf...

As a sabbatismos remains only for His people...

I don't question Elohim's judgement; and even if I did; he would have the last word. I doubt that he would change his Torah in favor of my opinion.

I suppose that his judgements will minimize adulterous orgies, and gay pride parades, among his people, before his throne.
