Heavenly Father. We are in a predicament. For how we long for You and for Your return to us. How we long for righteousness and salvation and eternal peace. How we long to be in your presence and for the end of all evils. How our souls yearn for You, our God. Still we want our brothers and sisters to come to believe in You, and we do not want You to come before all who are called have come to repentance. We do not want them to suffer or perish. How can we harmonize these two longings? Forgive my longing for You to be higher than for my wish to have our brothers and sisters come to believe in You, my God. For I am guilty of my heart wanting You so much, that it is overwhelming my soul. So I feel guilty that I cannot love my brothers and sisters more, and I am guilty of wanting Your return more than I want to wait for the sake of them. But had it been me in their situation, I would desperately need You to wait so that I would reach salvation in You, Lord. This conflict is unbearable. For it is selfish to want Your return now, but it is my soul’s desire. Help me to love my brothers and sisters more. And please lead them to You as soon as You can, please, so that You may also return to us. Your absence is torment. And this selfishness is the same. Please rid us of both, forgive our need of You and see that we still do. Dear heavenly Father, how we love You. And how we wish to love your elect for Your and their and our sakes. Help us and use us to share the gospel with everyone and lead Your people to You swiftly. Your kingdom come.
6 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?
4 Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
