The thing is I already know why I'm angry and it's the kind of anger that comes from other people trying to tell me what to do in such a controlling way that it doesn't even seem like just simple advice.

Just tell them "no thanks"

So then what does all of that mean? Read the Bible?? I do that already. It doesn't seem to help in this situation though unless you quoted verses about anger like Daniel did.
Ok, let's go back to the beginning and spell it out A-B-C. Assuming you are born again...

You said in your OP
Cause let's just face it anger is a human emotion.
Let me spell this out... (uncontrolled) anger is a 'fallen' human emotion it is not the nature of God nor is it the nature of the new birth. We are to walk according to our new nature/new birth. (Rom 8:4).The problem is, is the indwelling flesh nature which battles the new nature. (Gal 5:17).
Since uncontrolled anger is near opposite of patience, and patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23), the question becomes how do we bring forth (exhibit) this fruit?
Jesus answers that in John 15:5 ...
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Abiding in Christ requires faith which comes by hearing God's Word. (Rom 10:17).
And as natural fruit takes time (water, sun, time, fertilizer) so does spiritual fruit. It is not an instantaneous Pop-Tart. (2Pet 1:3-8).
(Sorry, I have no Kava-Kava to offer you.)

Cause let's just face it anger is a human emotion. Like it or not we all get angry sometimes. Even though it was in a sinless way even Jesus got angry. So what do you do about it? How do you get it under control? After recently getting angry myself (somebody was starting to become really controlling with me) I could really use some advice.

It was the Holy Spirit's intent, that you get "angry" with the "Devil".

The Devil does not take the stance he does, because he thinks he is "right": he is trying to get away with sin.

If you are happy for the Devil to sin, and it doesn't make you angry: you only have yourself to blame?

James 1:20 ESV is my mental go to "for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God."

Longstanding injustices in my life that I have very little control over get special treatment. I try to hand that stuff to the Lord actively and aggressively. Passing annoyances like hunger or sleepiness make me step back and take care of myself. Anger that affects my relationships used to get stuffed down but I have come a long way in expressing myself and hearing others out.

There is an approach I learned about from a college textbook called talker/listener or speaker/listener approach (can't remember for sure). It goes a long way towards creating empathy and understanding between people in dialogue. It is not a quick fix but it creates better connection I think. Even if only a few of the key principles involved are in play, it can be very helpful when trying to keep your cool in a conversation.

As @Gottservant brings out, there is a difference between righteous indignation (which we should all share) and uncontrolled rage (which I referred to early on).
If only more Christians had righteous indignation.

I can picture the Apostle Paul at Lystra stoned and lying underneath a pile of rock. A hand then rises from the rock, then a head, and then a body. I can picture Paul shaking off the stones, and then departing with Barnabas unto the next city.

This is what we must do. When the stones are threw from the enemy simply shake them off and continue your way.

I think it’s important to get to the bottom of what is making me angry. I usually need to take some kind of action to change the situation that is upsetting me. Anger often comes from feeling a lack of control or witnessing injustice. So I make a plan for how to do something about it, rather than just stewing about it or repressing my feelings.

In itself anger is a human emotion, like you said. It would be weird if you never got angry. But don't linger with it or don't let it turn into hate, or Satan will be able to control you through that emotion. My advice is don't feel guilty for getting angry, but quickly reason with yourself to get out of that emotion before it makes you do or say (or even think) something you will regret.
