Biden noted the importance of voting, especially getting young people to do so

Cardi B can add journalist to her long list of talents.

The rapper, 27, recently spoke with the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for Elle magazine's September 2020 issue. Their wide-ranging conversation covered topics such as healthcare, racism in America, free education, and tax breaks.

The "WAP" singer first tackled her dislike and distrust of President Donald Trump. She called him "confusing" and explained how she constantly feels lied to by the government.

“Tell me the truth, the hard-core truth," she said regarding the status of the coronavirus pandemic in America.

Biden, 77, noted the importance of voting, especially getting young people to do so, so Trump becomes a one-term president.

"In 2016, if 18- to 24-year-olds had voted in the same percentage as the rest of the population, there would have been 5.2 million more votes," Biden contended. "We wouldn’t have [Trump]; we would have had Hillary Clinton. The vote matters. That’s why you keep talking to people about the need to vote. Your generation can own what happens in the next election. They can change things dramatically if they show up and vote."

The Bronx native said her fans are most interested in "free college and Medicare." She asked Biden, "When you see the taxes coming off your check, you don’t understand, because you feel like you’re putting in so many hours. People want to know, can you provide college education, this [health care] plan, without a big chunk of taxes coming out of our checks?"

"Yes, we can," Biden responded. "And the way we can pay for all of this is doing practical things, like making sure that everybody has to pay their fair share. [For example] no corporation should pay less than 15 percent tax.

"If I get elected president, anybody with a family [that makes] less than 125 grand, you’re going to get free education," he said. "And everybody gets free community college."

And this is where the veteran Senator and statesman loses me. The Nordic social democracy with efficient taxation and excellent tax-paid services for all works precisely because everyone is a stakeholder and no one gets excluded -- not even those who make more than 125 grand.

People pay taxes and get excellent value for their money and comprehensive services in return. A win-win creating a virtuous circle of prosperity across the board. You simply cannot ask those who make >XXX grand-whatever to pay for semi-universal services but without being granted the same right and access to those services. This only enforces a two-tier system wherein those with money pay for tax-paid education, health care for those with lesser means and then they have to pay for private education and private health care for their own families on top of that.

Not suprisingly, those with wealth then figure that since they pay for it, they'll pay for (expensive) 1st class private services for themselves and the bare minimum public services for others. The wealthy get ripped off every step of the way, by the state and by the for-profit service providers, the less wealthy get second-rate substitute for public services, and everyone loses.

In the Nordic system, the wealthy pay their share of taxes, and the taxes fund a 1st class education system for all taxpayers regardless of wealth, and thus it is in the best interest of the wealthy to ensure that the education system remains excellent, because they are stakeholders and their kids use it too. As a by-product, the same excellent system benefits also tax-payers with lesser means. By pooling the money to fund a good quality education for all, no one loses and everyone wins, and 1+1 = 3.
