Trump threatens 'heavily armed' military deployments to quash protests if governors and mayors do not 'establish an overwhelming law-enforcement presence'

  • In a Rose Garden address, President Donald Trump issued an order to mobilize all military resources "effective immediately" to break up any riots stemming from protests over the death of George Floyd.

  • Trump threatened governors with military intervention if they do not take his "strongly recommended" advice to deploy National Guard troops to "dominate the streets."

So, instead of cooling it down, we'll just heat it up even more.

Is there any wisdom, or better yet any common sense left in world politics anymore? Why is passive non violent resistance so difficult? If Trump all of a sudden switched to that way of thinking, he'd change the world over night.

Dreams are free eh?

“Trump, standing alongside several other senior officials, posed for photographs at the church while holding a Bible.“

I guess Trump apologists think that was a grand gesture signifying his personal relationship with God in these trying times instead of cheapest , most phony photo op he could think of without ordering his aides to get him a baby to kiss.

And you make light by calling it a photo up of his appearing at this place! I don't! The place has great historic significance and I think it shows leadership to demonstrate one stands with the vision and dreams the place does represent. I believe it was a good place for him to show up.

Worth gassing a park full of protesters to get there, eh?

Trump is RIGHT to deploy the military. The protests that have been going on are a disgrace to the African American community and make us look bad. They aren’t what Martin Luther King would have wanted. It isn’t right to protest with violence over the tragic violent death of one African American at the hands of a corrupt white cop.

So at what point would you finally admit that some people just won't allow themselves to cool down? How many more innocent people on the streets need to be beat up? How many more businesses need to be destroyed? How many more goods need to be looted until you conclude certain individuals just won't give it up or listen to reason? So maybe you can reply....how many more days with that be....how many more weeks...or even months? Just give us a number please.

His security apparatus tear gassed peaceful protesters so he could demonstrate how he stands with the vision and dreams the place represents ?

Hilarious.

Donald does love dominance;

Yes perhaps on this issue he does. But for what reason? To keep people's businesses from being destroyed and all their inventory being looted. If he's encouraging Governors to take a strong stand for this one thing....dominate on this one aspect of the problem why is that a bad thing.

And keep in mind he stands in favour of peaceful protests.

We've long passed that point with Donald -- it's obvious the man has anger management issues and no self-control whatsoever.

How many more innocent people on the streets need to be beat up? How many more businesses need to be destroyed? How many more goods need to be looted until you conclude certain individuals just won't give it up or listen to reason? That's up to the police. They are, at least, capable of maintaining order without making things exponentially worse.

Donald is not.

He security apparatus? I don't even think it was the Secret Service who did the tear gas thing. I thought that was the police. And do you even know that they called the police and told them to use this particular method?

Wrong. The reason is because he sees it as a sign of weakness... his weakness... if he is not dominant.

If he's encouraging Governors to take a strong stand for this one thing....dominate on this one aspect of the problem why is that a bad thing.

He's not encouraging; he's threatening. That's what people do when they're afraid.

And keep in mind he stands in favour of peaceful protests.

I keep in mind what he says... I also keep in mind his trustworthiness.

I'll be 100% honest with you: I indulge naive fantasies.

I don't know that I've ever been MORE fed up, despondent, and angry at the world than I am right now. But the naive childlike belief that everything will be perfect one day soon, stops me from giving up entirely. It keeps me strong, it keeps me optimistic - and actually, when you think about it, with the amount of crazy stuff that's been going on, it's not unreasonable anymore to imagine a near utopia on the back of all of this.

If somebody with half a brain gets elected this year, then there could - at the very least, be a well balanced place of moderation. But it's getting pretty close, and all you have is two bozos running.

Sadly, the only person who can actually deliver what the world needs is Jesus Himself.

The First Amendment guarantees the right to peaceably assemble, which is exactly what the people were doing before Trump had them dispersed using tear gas and stun grenades prior to his photo-op showing him holding a Bible in front of a church to which he was not invited.

He should be impeached!

The protests are NOT about the death of ONE African American by A corrupt white cop. What rock have YOU been hiding under that you don't see that it is about the many African Americans who have been killed by MANY corrupt white cops. It is open season on black people. People are hunting black people and killing them for sport. What hurts so bad is some of these people claim to be Christians. But God is not mocked. Whatsoever a person sows, that is what they will also reap.
