For some, the pandemic brought sickness, death, debt and massive unemployment. Others have profited from the calamity, enjoyed the downtime, and made headway on goals and projects.

You’ll find believers in both groups. Was God the author or is He working through evil for a greater good?

Ever since Adam and Eve handed over the deed to this world to satan, as someone else here put it the other day, it has been in his hands to do pretty much of what ever he wants. Really not much has changed, esp concerning God. We have changes as we start to realize in a more real way the consequences of mankind handing over stewardship of the world over to satan.

It can be argued that we have been seeing this since the beginning of 2020. We saw major fires in several countries because of the dryness and heat. We saw a once-in-a-generation plague of locusts in East Africa and throughout the Middle East. Now we have a pandemic that has put the entire world into a standstill.

The fact that these things have happened back to back since the beginning of 2020 does raise concerns that this is a final warning before we start seeing judgements from the Book of Revelation.

The rain falls on the rich and poor alike. It is not a message - well, at least not a message we haven't already received from God in His Word and through other events. It is certainly not part of any kind of soothsaying or fortune telling. We know not the hour of his return and we are not supposed to be trying to decipher those things. Whatever happens we are just to serve Him, that's all.

Remember Matthew 16:4, "A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign..."

It is better to put that energy into prayer and supplication for our many sins. If the virus takes us, we want to be ready; if the virus doesn't take us, we want to be ready. Nothing changes. We do the same. We are to always turn to God, for relief, for safety, for mercy, for everything. This virus is nothing but the latest iteration of many such calamities and plagues.

Pandemics happen, just like droughts, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. It is not some judgment from God.

You remind me of someone else I was talking to before. It was on 911, I was working in a stock brokerage firm located in Midtown Manhattan. The first plane had just hit the tower and we were standing in front of the TV. I said it was terrorists, and someone with the same assurance as you said it wasn't true, I didn't know that.

I said look outside, it is blue sky, no clouds, commercial airlines are not allowed to fly over Manhattan, this wasn't an accident the guy didn't even try to avoid the tower. He was equally sure that I was wrong. Then right at that moment the second plane hit and then it was really funny. All these people (probably at least 10) who had gathered around the TV started screaming that we were under attack and we needed to run. I said what are you talking about, we are on the first floor, the only thing you need to worry about is airplanes crashing and that would be on the street, stay where you are.

But anyway I agree with you. The prophecies I have seen do not simply take about a virus sweeping through the whole earth, they talk about 4 waves (in Joel) and it talks about God sending Fire. It says in Isaiah 29:6 "the Lord Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire." Then in Isaiah 30:30 it says it will be the Fire that makes people see His arm "The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice and will make them see his arm coming down with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail."

I’m confused because I never said there wasn’t a pandemic, I simply said that it wasn’t a judgment from God. Why are you comparing me to someone who said that a plane didn’t hit the tower.

Hi christine,

I think those are the same 'believers' who area assured that God sent hurricane Katrina to New Orleans because of its sin. Hurricane Andrew to Miami-Dade because of its sin. Earthquake to El Salvador because of its sin. Earthquake to San Francisco because of its sin.

What I see? This issue and all of the others is a fulfillment of the work of the horsemen noted in the Revelation of Jesus. God has already sent His message of change...Jesus!!! His word!!!! His Spirit!!! He has, since at least 2,000 years ago, been begging us to change our hearts. But Paul's words are true, it isn't going to happen that all men come to the knowledge of God's salvation. Mankind upon the earth will become more and more hard-hearted and belligerent to God. It's all in the Scriptures. Just as Paul wrote to Timothy that a time is coming when men will not put up with sound doctrine. That we will turn away to myths and fables telling us what our itching ears want to hear.

They saw the plane hit, we all did, it was on the TV, I'm comparing you to someone who is saying it was an accident.

Except I knew 9-11 wasn’t an accident. I remember that day all too well. When it happened I never said or implied that it was an accident so you would be wrong.

You need to be more clear. You are the one who wrote “I agree with you.” If you don't agree with me you shouldn't have said that, should you?

I never said God wasn’t involved in this. God is comforting the families of Those who died. God is giving strength to those who are battling this disease, both those who have it and the health care workers who are treating it. But a loving God didn’t send this virus to kill people. Sorry if you believe otherwise.
