Neither of us had the time or money to get a plane ticket and we live 1,000 miles away from each other.

There is nothing wrong with developing a connection. But it’s unwise to pursue if neither have the means to make it real. You’ll rest in the emotional without the necessary grounding and time in person the relationship requires.

I know two couples who managed with infrequent visits (once or twice per year). They were the exceptions. One pair is married and the other moved overseas.

It’s equally important to consider how the distance is serving both. Fears and insecurities can encourage slower progression. I’ve seen the downside of dashed hopes based on virtual visions and others which fared well.

As a rule, it’s best to solidify the connection sooner than later before you’re emotionally attached. The unknown can be hard to handle without reassurance and a plan.
