If sex leads to overpopulation would God have originally expected humans to only have sex occasional

I am not the type to cry that politicians should travel to their meetings abroad on sail boats nor as mentioned earlier in the thread that we should go back to caves and hunt with spears because it was just so nostalgic to suffer cold, starvation, sabertooths and life spans of couple of decades while suffering from multitude of ailments that modern medical can cure.
Maybe not, but your posts make "excessive" or "excess" the villain without ever identifying what it is.

Do you feel as Christian that excess wealth is something that The Bible speaks for or against ?

I have been reading a lot about overpopulation lately and how it has and is contributing to a lot of our problems such as climate change, poverty, pollution and the depletion of the earth's natural resources. So it got me thinking how could we have avoided this situation. The obvious answer is to not produce so many people. But despite contraception, we have still overpopulated. So the question is did God intend for us to only have sex occasionally to avoid overpopulating the earth or is this inevitable.

Overpopulation is a myth.

We can give everyone on earth a 10'X10' room and fit the whole worlds population in the state of Texas! The U.S. alone can give the world a subsistence diet. The problem is not over population but politics.

You're right about that myth of overpopulation, but what's the "politics" part of that picture? That it is wrong of government not to make sure that what you've described is not currently the situation that exists?

This may come as huge surprise but people have various levels of comfort and safety.

Some minimalist are just fine with sparse room, 50 items owned and used with bit of money in the bank for emergencies.

Others have 100 millions in investment and they are stressed about losing it all.

You define what your comfortable level is. You surely know if you feel you are above your comfort level.

It sounds more like you are just avoiding the question.

Why would that be a surprise?

Others have 100 millions in investment and they are stressed about losing it all.

You define what your comfortable level is.

In short, there is nothing here after all for us to consider. No definable problem or solution. No particular wrongdoing. Nothing but some people have less than others do, and by the way, that's not necessarily bad.

Well if you think that is what Jesus teaches go for it.

No it is politics that keep people from being fed enough, getting necessary meds, not stopping people from making some rivers not even habitable for fish like in India, China and Africa! But ultmately, the problem is sin!

The commandment in Genesis, “be fruitful and multiply,” is qualified by “fill the Earth and subdue it.” Humans now live on every continent in Antarctica. We have caused numerous species of animals and plants to go extinct. We have threatened numerous other species with extinction. We are actually causing the planet’s temperature to increase. I think we can stop multiplying so much.

I guess I was looking for some specifics. It's easy for people to throw the word "politics" at any social situation they think is not right and just let it go at that.

Well we are actually going into a time of global cooling, thanks to the grand solar minimum that is taking place now!

And how many species do you think went extinct as a result of the flood and the conditions post flood after Adam left the ark?

I will give you a specific example. In Sudan where genocide was going on, the gurilla groups kept thousands of tons of food given to help the starving from getting to where it was suppossed to go! Why? Because there were the wrong tribe!

We have an abundance of food and water and fossil fules, but generally it is the selfishness of political manipulations of men that keep what is needed from getting to where it needs to be!

Scientific proof of that please.

Global flood? Cute story. Didn’t happen.

So this problem was NOT a result of overpopulation, "excessive" exploitation of the world's natural resources, the supposed greed of international capitalists, climate change or any of the usual scapegoats we are familiar with.

Go to you tube and look up the grand solar minimum channel. The sun has more to do with our climate than anything man can do! Last year teh sun was w/o sunspots for 76% of the year!

This year so far we are at 77% Look up the Dalton minimum, The Maunder minimum and th eothers in between. We are in what they named the Eddie Grand solar minimum. The sun has an 11 year circle where it goes from solar maxima to solar minima and about every 200-250 years we experience a grand solar minimum. We are in that now! We have been coming off a solar maximum period (the warming trend) and now entering not just a solar minima, but a grand solar minimum.

As for the flood? The geological evidence speaks against you!

Global cooling. Yeah, that is what everyone is worried about.

Actually we are in “cool” solar period now and we are still heating the planet up quite handily. Imagine when solar output actually increases when we move in to more active period.

As for Ark myth...what was the point of getting animals in to the ark in the first place if they just went extinct when they stepped out of the boat and all the vegetation was gone ?

God had something against herbivores ?

Well at least carnivores were happy.

Hmm where did the herbivores we have now come then ?

God did a bit of extra unmentioned creation when the vegetation got back to speed ?

Well totalitarian regimes are far more culpable for world hunger than "greedy international capitalists".

But excessive exploitation? In some areas, yes there is an excessive exploitation, but those generally localized.

But the US alone for fossil fuels has known reserves of 300 years of natural gas, 200 years of oil, and over 3 centuries of coal!

Gobal cooling does not mean everywhere goes cool. The arctic heated up last year while lower canada and the upper US went through record cold due to the jet stream being moved by solar activity (or lack thereof) Remember 45 years ago scientists wrote about global cooling from burning fossil fuels.

Well extinction is a natural order God set in place and who said but you that herbivores went extinct?
Noah took dinosaurs with him. We have temple carvings only one thousannd years old showing dinosaurs. Where did they get the concpet of dinos since they were not discovered by science till the mid 1800's.??

I agree. However, the charge that it's 'greedy Capitalists' who are responsible is heard much more often. That doesn't mean that those saying it are right or better informed than those who point to actual history, though. :)

Sure. One of the facts of life that comes to mind at times like this is that ever since oil was discovered in the USA, the 'smart set' has been warning that there is no more than a ten-year supply left!

I remember reading that very same alert from some supposed expert as recently as the 1990s or early 21st century and now we are awash in oil.

Or simply stop intervening with life-saving measures and let the nature course of events transpire. That'll do the trick.

Send everybody back to their normal routines and COVID-19 will cull the herd. All those old folks dying will ease the Social Security coffers, lower healthcare costs, and mitigate many bankruptcies. The exposure will harden the human genome and improve the specifies. Biological Übermensch!

Why "or", why not "and"?
