Lockdown and the rise in domestic violence and suicide.

Heavenly Father, this lockdown of our normal lives and activities and feeling shut in is hard especially on those who are alone, sick or who have lost loved ones, have lost jobs, and businesses and are worried about finances, and are locked up in their homes depressed with nothing else to think about but about all the panic going on around them, please help them, please ease their worries and fears. Show them that You are there for them. Help them to be patient, and know it is only for a short time for everyone's well being. Grant them peace. I pray that this will quickly pass and life will return to normal again, In Jesus Name, Amen

It's been mentioned in the ABC Australia news. The Federal Government of Australia has allocated 1.1 billion dollars to help with mental health and domestic violence issues arising from the lockdown. Alcohol sales have been restricted also. Since domestic violence is inextricably linked to excess alcohol consumption, this is also good news. That any of these measures are necessary is tragic.

Knox County, Tennessee saw nine deaths by suicide within 48 hours this week as doomsday predicitons over the novel Wuhan coronavirus panics an already axious public and leaves millions unemployed and isolated.

In Tennessee, the crisis is taking its toll on those who were not physically sick but who appear to have fallen victim to the virus anyway. As of this writing, more people have died from suicide in Knox County than people have from the virus in the entire state, where there have been 6 fatalities from the disease, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.

German state financial minister kills himself over coronavirus ‘despair’

A German state finance minister took his own life after expressing “despair” over how to handle the economic fallout from coronavirus, an official said.

Thomas Schaefer, who was the finance minister of Germany’s Hesse region, was found dead by suicide Saturday on railway tracks at Hochheim, which is near Frankfurt.
