My next door neighbor which is a Methodist pastor and told me he's healthy and doesn't believe in this virse and will not be tested for it. No telling how many of his church will get it from him if he has it. This has been on my mind after he told me. I have a family member that is a Methodist pastor in another state so I'm not writing this be mean.

If he said his Faith is strong and he does not believe that the Virus will affect him because of His belief in God, that is one thing.

Saying he doesn't believe in it is saying the sky is red not blue. that is just stupid denying the truth of the matter will not stop anything.

I mean how safe is safe? High profile people need to get tested how often? Biweekly? I mean it's ok to be concerned. But I would not say he is a bad pastor for not getting checked. I live in california, I know dozens of people who work in the food industry in my area who have not been checked. I think it all depends on how sanitary you are. And if you are sick. If your sick stay at home. Always be sanitary, wash hands, etc. I even like the social distancing, people are talking about, not shaking hands, standing a few feet away. But I would not say a pastor is good or bad based on a virus. If he is sick yes he should stay home, but other than that I honestly don't see a problem if they don't get tested. I mean everyone should treat every other person as if they are infected already. Don't touch them, or hug them, or get close enough to be sneezed on. But say a pastor gets tested. That does not mean he is immune, it just means he don't have it yet. So I ask, how often do you think they need to get tested?

Your missing the point of the post.

Read carefully.
"My next door neighbor which is a Methodist pastor and told me he's healthy and doesn't believe in this virse and will not be tested for it."

Now that is something completely different than you are speaking about.

He always never has been friendly for a pastor and been kindy self centered. He does have Bi-polar and family also.

it matters not. A pastor can have faith in God and not be affected by a physical virus at all. Now should he take precautions as a church? yes, but that is not what you took exception with, you took exception with him not believing in virus. And I take it to mean that He does not believe it is more powerful than God, and he would be right.

well I think you answer your post right here, if he has bipolar, that would make sense if he is unfriendly to some, while being nice to others. Even people with mental illness can be pastors. But yes, we should love other people. But giving them cripling fear over a virus is not Godly. we are not to be afraid of anything, not in Christ. Christ has the victory. It is satan that operates with fear, not God.

I don't know where OP is but where I am one can't get tested if s/he wants to. There are not enough test kits and they are being used only to confirm people that are symtomatic. My state has only tested 195 people so far. That aside, a good pastor would take concern for her/his flock and do all possible to prevent contagion and support them through this time.

Testing is irrelevant, he needs to grow up and act responsibly. What he does or does not believe is again irrelevant.
There is a world wide pandemic of an illness that is serious for those who are vulnerable.

Have as little to do with this ignorant man.

We are in a dangerous time when people are denying the scientific truth and pretending God will protect them just because they don’t want to believe it. If the Devil tells you to jump off the pinnacle of the temple because angels will catch you at the bottom, do as Jesus did and tell the Devil not to try to test the Lord God.

If you step out in front of a car, jump off a cliff, or ignore a pandemic there is no reason God would protect you for willful ignorance.

Its time for the pandemic deniers, anti-vacceers, And anti-climate change deniers to recognize that God gave us brains, our God given intellect discovered scientific truth and we ignore it at our own peril.

People are people, when someone becomes a Pastor, they don't stop being people, and bring into their Ministry the same ole things they have always done or been, if you were not friendly and self centered before Ordination, you will be the same after.

People are people but not everyone should be a pastor. Irresponsible people shouldn’t be ordained or appointed. That’s why United Methodists have a pretty strict ordination system, to try to weed out the people who aren’t good leaders, or don’t have the right skills, or whose theology doesn’t match us.

Someone who believes that they can’t get sick because they are a Christian didn’t get that from the UMC.

My sister lives in Oklahoma City and has it. Caught it from a coworker returning from Korea. She has been ordered from her company to get tested but so far has been given the beurocratic run around. No one knows who has the kits and does the testing. THe state health dept says the local doctors are to do it and the local doctors say the health dept is supposed to be doing it.

There are no kits available in my state. None. Therefore all of our data is under-reported because they only count as positive those who have had a positive test...and no one is getting tested. Worst still is that the Health Department only reaches out to prior contacts of victims if the victim has tested positive. Which they can't, of course, without test kits. So the contacts of all those who are quarantined without a positive test are blindly going about their lives not knowing they were exposed. Poor epidemiology in my opinion - .gov has failed us.

I was told by my wife that she read that they are guessing that in most states there are 200 cases for every one they identify.

We did streaming worship for the first time at my church this Sunday. We are all having to ramp up our technological skills quickly!
