We kind of have a lousy history of abandoning our brethren in East Asia. I think of the Japanese faithful who were persecuted under the Tokugawa Shogunate between the 17th and 19th centuries in Japan, and today (and perhaps for a long time) the Chinese faithful whom we've basically released into the hands of the communist regime.
