That's ten cases of the good guy with a gun over 105 years. Kinda supports my point about it being rare, doesn't it?
Also, let's have a look at the details.
The Cape town incident presented as Case Two, you had a good guy with a gun, and yet there were still 11 people killed and 58 people wounded. Most of the other cases are similar, by the time the GGWAG takes action, a lot of damage has been done.
And the whole idea is dubious to begin with. I mean, when the cops turn up to the location, they're gonna be looking for a guy with a gun. Hands up if you want to be the GGWAG when the cops turn up, especially considering how eager the US police seem to be to shoot first and ask questions later? Also consider the fact that there have been quite a few cases of a GGWAG who has drawn their weapon to stop a crime and the criminal has been killed over a minor crime. Do you think that's fair? Someone should be killed for stealing a playstation, or something like that?

No Martin was convicted in a court of law following extensive witness testimonies and extensive forensic evidence including him carrying the weapon and ammo that killed and injured so many, gun powder on his hands..... I mean why am I even bothering to talk to someone who is expressing sympathy for the mass-killer and zero for the many deaths and injured at the hands of a "lawful gun owner"
The rest of Australia is not as kooky in their conspiracy theory and the only reason you have this one is so you can run around your streets waving more guns.
The law authorities need to keep a close eye on such people..... and they do.

THANKYOU - You have proved my point. you have shown ZERO instances of a citizen saving an individual from rape or murder because they had a firearm.... IN AUSTRALIA - YES AUSTRALIA. This is what the OP is all about and believe it or not; but not everything revolves around America with their insane desire to run screaming around their neighbourhoods threatening to shoot each other with the results of 40 000-60000 deaths a year - Yes Folks - these gun totting nutjobs have a 9/11 equivalent at least once every week.
BUT because we have strict gun laws, you won't find an example here - AND YOU KNOW THAT which is why you had to do a little sneaky-poo and go find examples from crazy gun-loving America.

You are off-topic - This is a thread in response to @Adino The Eznite false claims that have been exposed and the record set straight regarding the implementation of gun laws in Australia, with highly successful outcomes over the past 24 years.

So this article you posted is from a gun advocate site showing examples from South Africa and USA. It advocates that all family should equip their family including children with automatic weapons.
NUT JOBS
There is no example from Australia which was my point - But you know that - and obviously couldn't substantiate your repeated false claims concerning Australian gun laws and their successful outcomes.

I find the sentiments expressed here very worrying and serving to justify why our ex-Prime Minister got it right. Strict gun laws protect us from those who want to have open access to them.
In the posts here you have seen Memes expressing anti-Government rhetoric with a picture of the government armed men pointing rifles at a citizen.
You have seen false claims that guns in the hands of citizens in Australia have saved lives and rapes. They are false. There is no such recorded case - and in Australia, such a case would be very big news here - Its so rare that.....it never happens.
You have seen conspiracy theory that, despite the mass-gun-killer admitted his crime, hundreds of eyewitnesses, him actually carrying the gun..... despite all that there is empathy for the killer. It's terrible that the poor people witnessing the death of their children are being referred to as liars Witnesses recall horror of Port Arthur massacre
I posted a link of a mother who watched just metres away as her 15-year-old daughter was shot in the head. @Adino The Eznite should bear in mind how distasteful it is for him to infer that her testimony of watching her daughter being shot in the head, is all a lie. She identified her daughter's killer.
You have seen rhetoric that God demands we own guns - and some verses are thrown around. Well in Australia, such views are a fringe minority. Verses don't change the facts - Guns haven't saved lives here - NOT one unless they were in the hand of the police. They have taken lives though, especially a law-abiding man with a gun who shoots his kids in the face and then his wife - we've seen enough of that.
What frightens me is that this anti-government view, coupled with the stocking up of arms and ammunition, is historically a bad mix. We only need to look to the USA where this mix spawns militia groups, sovereign citizenship, and events such as the Oklahoma bombing.
Australians do NOT want what @Adino The Eznite desires. Our statistics are evidence enough to not go down the path of America.

If you take a look at Kylie's post (#55) which I was replying to, you will see that her entire post emphasizes that the "good guy with a gun" in the USA is a fantasy. I showed that it is real.
Her post doesn't say anything about Australia.

OK thanks @Darkhorse . Though of course, you are, I'm sure, aware that the efficacy is a low percentage. I've tried to find data but around 0.9 percent seems to be the figure. So - In 2018 where the USA had over 60 000 gun-related deaths, possibly about 1000 lives were saved. But hey I'll accept the research is difficult on this one.
For us Australians, we look at your country and evaluate what believe the cost-benefit it is. We've made a decision that the cost outweighs any perceived benefit and it works for us both practically and culturally.
