Hi All, I’m new here and have a problem when editing.
At times I don’t know what I press but my whole text disappears and I can’t get it back (that I can see...!)

But I notice that the system saves a draft ... how do I recover my text from draft.

thanks.

Hello and welcome to CF!

It may be that you are highlighting/deleting blocks of text all in one move. I've had that happen on some computers. Look above your box where you are typing and you should see two circles with arrows ... those are undo and redo. If you tap them you should be able to restore what was just deleted. The draft only works if you reload without it saving again. You can't control when it saves so that is less reliable.

To the leftof the undo and redo, just below the B for bolding, there is a save draft icon.
Ah I see there is one now. That's not actually where it is for me but you are right it is there now. Thank you!

But there is no save icon when you are editing an already posted post.
You are correct.

Because save happens automatically it can be unreliable anyway. If you accidentally delete a block of text and the draft auto saves, then you reload ... your text will be gone anyway.

I just found it more within the control of the poster to use undo/redo. But whatever works is good. :)

Thanks all for your responses.
I’m typing on my iPhone and the whole post just disappears and there is nothing I see to bring it back. The site is so convoluted that I just give up looking and - if it was a short post - type it back again - or just don’t bother.

Thanks again, I’ll just try to be more careful and check what I’m typing and buttons I press (difficult when typing fast AND PASSIONATELY!!)

I hope it works out for you. I used to have that happen A LOT and it was very frustrating so that's how I discovered the undo button. Poof, it all comes back. :)

There’s hope then. Better if they fixed the problem rather than us having to be frustrated and find our own way.
I used to work on a system so flawed I thought I was in the wrong job cos no one else seemed to made a complaint when it went wrong. After months of wrangling with the designers I wrote my own version that overlaid the business version. It caught and dealt with the errors before they occurred and worked so smoothly it amused me considerably at business meetings with the designers where they asked if there were any issues and often claimed there was nothing they could do if anything was aired. They knew I had my solution and in the end accused me of ‘damaging their programme’. My manager was angry (out of ignorance) until I showed him that the overlay had not done anything to their very expensive but-in. None-the-less they told me I wasn’t allowed to use my (now) completely 500% better development that cost my development time and a few more £’s. Business software is not always about the best option for value - sometimes it’s political... I had to learn that!!!
(Still, I enjoyed doing what I did and seeing it work flawlessly!!))
