I want to be healed, and I tell myself that I'm at rest and I become confident but when I read my confessions in my book I start thinking what if it doesn't work what if I try to do it by myself and, at the same time I'm trying to get God to do something I know he's already done. I really need some advice I don't know what to do im frustrated, I'm dealing with severe depression and anxiety I can't deal with this anymore. Im still here but I really want this to be gone. I wanna have joy and peace again. Thank you.

It sounds like you might be struggling with scrupulosity, or obsessive compulsive tendencies, friend. Maybe.

I have also noticed that many, many Christians struggle with and get hurt by false or misleading understandings of what salvation is, how it's supposed to feel, and what it's supposed to look like.

Our Christian walks have ups and downs. Sometimes psychological and physical healing comes, and that's great. Sometimes it doesn't. That's ok, too. Sometimes we feel joyful and uplifted, confident, and happy. Sometimes we feel like crawling into a hole and never emerging.

It's a journey. Let Christ lead you, carry you, hold you, work on you, correct you, love you, and guide you. Carry your cross, love Him back with your life, repent when you sin or stumble, get up, and with His help, keep going.

I hope this helps, friend.

I'm dealing with severe depression and anxiety I can't deal with this anymore.

Are you on medications? If not they can help a lot!

Secondly, depression makes us look at ourselves and we become self absorbent - the bible says however don't do that for it bites you in the bum, look at Christ and keep looking at Christ not matters what transpires if our eyes are peeled on Christ we begin to live the life of Christ. We become free.

To enter God's rest happens when our faith is in Christ and our eyes are peeled on Him. Then, no matter how badly the storms of life rages, we find peace in Christ.

Peace.

wanna have joy and peace again. Thank you.

When I experience anxiety I get a lot of peace and edification from ancient Church chant. It's a great way to meditate and review passages of the Bible as well as uplifting and important Christian themes and doctrines. Try it out!

Hello, God's rest is spiritual rest...and you enter in to His rest by believing in His Son you get this from understanding His Word (Bible)...not any other book. Ask God to teach you and give you a spirit of wisdom so you can believe Him through the knowledge of His Son. God bless

That passage context is about the Israelites in the wilderness.

They saw the giants in the promised land and prefer to believe in the 10 spies, instead of Joshua and Caleb. Thus, they could not enter the rest.

So how to enter that rest? Be confident that when God said he has healed you, you are healed. Renew your mind in that biblical truth and don't let the facts you see with your eyes convince you otherwise.

There's a duality to it. It works on two levels. Heb. 4 is all about entering God's rest, and faith is presented as the key. First, we place complete trust in the Lord. His word says He will heal, and if the spirit is in agreement, you can take it to the bank.

But sometimes it doesn't happen immediately. Then what? In that case, we take it one step at a time, being faithful in the little things, even the "unrighteous things". These things may seem to have nothing to do with the vision we are believing for, but God knows what He is doing. Joseph and David are good examples of this. The Psalms say that God put iron into the soul of Joseph as he struggled in prison for all those years: the word of God tested him, until the word came to pass. The same happened to David; he was thrust into the school of leadership and adversity, as preparation for kingship.

So get the promise established in your mind, and then go about your day, walking in the light as the Lord leads. Faithful is He who has called you, and He also will bring it to pass.

I find my peace and rest in the sufficiency of Christ's death for the forgiveness of sin and the certainty of eternal life found in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Pardon me, I can't remember which version of the Bible this is from.

"... This shall bring rest, if one refresh the weary, yes this shall bring rest." From Isaiah 28.

I think it means to care for the poor, and the disadvantaged, and God will grant us rest. I pray this helps.

You said it: "I". 16 times. How about confessing Christ? He is the Prince of Peace. He is the Joy that is our strength. My Bible tells me that "I" am crucified with Christ. So where do I figure in all this? Answer: I don't. My job is to march myself off to the graveyard and jump on my grave. The same Bible tells me that just as I was crucified with Christ, so I rose again with Him. I am a new creation. I live, yet not the old "I" of Adam. It is Christ that lives in me. That's a lot packed into one Bible verse (Galatians 2:20). I don't even need my own tiny measure of faith any more. I live by the faith of the Son of God.

If you have mental knowledge of these principles, it is a start but not enough. It has to be revelation, written on your heart. It is possible. God has done it for me. The difference it makes is amazing. Oh, don't try to crucify yourself. It is unnecessary and futile. You can hammer a nail into your foot and one hand. You can even bang a nail into one hand. Then you are stuck. God has already done everything in Christ Jesus. Accept that and you are free.

If you are talking about bodily healing then the Bible promises no such thing, even to the faithful. You see in 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy respectively that Timothy and Trophimus were faithful, godly men who were co-workers with the Apostles of Christ themselves, yet these men did not receive healing of the body. The teaching that such a thing is promised to Christians is indeed a great cause of needless anxiety and depression.

Now if you mean spiritual healing which consists of peace with God and dominion over sin, then that is something God has promised to whosoever will meet him on His terms in Christ. You must die to self and take Christ's yoke upon you that He might lead you and strengthen you to walk in the truth and righteousness of the requirements of God's Word. We must yield to Christ in surrender that He might reign over us and deliver us from our sins, since He died to redeem us from our sins that we might be His people who walk in His statutes and that He might be our God. Confess and forsake every wicked way in you that you know of, call on Christ to have mercy on you and deliver you from these, and go forward in following the good He requires that you know you ought to do. Study the Bible that you might understand His will more, know Him more, and walk in the light of His Word. The ultimate rest does not come until we do this faithfully until the end, but there is a measure of rest we can have here in the assurance by His Holy Spirit that we are indeed reconciled to Him by the blood of Christ and that we are on His side. If God be for us, then who can be against us? Being right with Him is worth more than having a healthy body, a good job, good relationships, and anything and everything else combined. What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose His own soul? Seek Him with your whole heart and you'll be on the right track in the most important thing- and He'll be faithful to at least provide anything else you truly need as you do so.

"28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

"29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:29-35)

"24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." (1 Peter 2:24-25)

"6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:6-7)

"31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:31-33)

What do mean by ""read my confessions in my book"? Why would you try to get God to do something He has already done?

God is our Peace, our Joy, our Rest. If we are to experience these things, we must have God. He is these things and when He gives them to us, He gives us Himself. Too often, though, people want God's stuff, they want His power, and peace, and comfort, but they don't really want Him. And when they ask God for His stuff, they wonder why they don't get it, not realizing what they are asking for is more of God - the God they don't much want. All the good things God wants to give us are found in Him, but He imparts Himself fully only to those who live in daily surrender to Him, to those who are constantly under His control, living moment-by-moment submitted to His will and way. Instead, then, of asking God for portions of peace and rest, for bits of power, and joy, and love, yield yourself to Him as a "vessel sanctified and fit for the Master's use," as a "living sacrifice," and you will find yourself filled to the brim with Him and all that He is: peace, joy, holiness, love, faithfulness, etc.

Some years ago I suffered extreme anxiety, to the degree that my body shook in public. It was very embarrassing for me. Now move forward a few years, and all is now good for me. I don't have these problems. At the time that this was going on I cried out to God for help, but nothing happened immediately. God often lets us go through hard times, but in the end he brings us out into fulfillment. Take the story of Joseph, as an example, God gave him the promise that he would rule, yet he was sold as a salve, endured prison (was the lowest of low). Yet in a moment of time God bough him out of prison to rule, second only to Pharaoh. Just keep holding on to your promise in the middle of the confusion, and it will come, but it may not be right now, it may be latter. Yet keep believing God and holding on. Your freedom may be today.

God has everything under control, and if you believe in Him, you will believe his words. I encourage you to memorize some of these scriptures:

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Talk to God about your frustration, your anxieties. Then share with strong christian friends and really pray about It. God promised if we pray AND that we believe when we pray, He ANSWERS those prayers. I will pray for you as well my friend!
