Nope. They are still innocent. If they divorced for sexual immorality, then they are innocent.
Must we repent to be forgiven?Says who?
M
All sins shall be forgiven, except the sinagainst the Holy Ghost; for Jesus will save all except the sons of perdition.
Not according to Luke:
“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
Luke 16:18
Not according to Mark:
Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
Mark 10:11
You are not a Christian without it.Is the sermon on the mount for Christians today?
Must we repent to be forgiven?
Still says it in Matthew and twice.
You are not a Christian without it.
Its still one author vs three (Mark, Luke, Paul).
The Sermon is the basis of the New Covenant. But divorce and remarriage was part of the Old Covenant. But even if it is for now, notice in Matthew 19:9 the innocent woman divorced from the adulterous husband also commits adultery along with the man she marries. Then you cannot have it both ways.
The sermon in the mount is in Matthew which you argue is OT. You say that divorce is not in the NT, but OT. Yet you say that we cannot be Christians without the sermon on the mount, which includes a exception.
You have a problem, Dave. You cannot have your cake and eat it too!
If you trust God, he'll work it out. He never allows us more than we can handle.I get it guys, you want marriages to stay together forever until death do them part and that's honorable! However, the reality is that it doesn't always happen and there is most certainly almost always an innocent party and both Jesus and Paul recognize this and give exceptions.
They know that it is better for man not to be alone and it is better to marry than burn with passion. Do you think that after one is married and then divorced they are neither lonely or burning with passion? Especially if they are young?
It's a good thing that Jesus and Paul know better than you!

Mark is generally accepted to be the closest to the original source of Jesus's sayings and Matthew and Luke widened it.While Paul is a fount of information, he doesn't override Jesus who said what he said in Matthew and twice.
Jesus is God who said except for sexual immorality. Paul goes and gives another reason and that is for an unbelieving spouse.
You must realize that Matthew is not Jesus.Jesus is God who said except for sexual immorality. Paul goes and gives another reason and that is for an unbelieving spouse.
You must realize that Matthew is not Jesus.
Jesus in Matthew is no more Jesus than Jesus in Luke or Mark.
Blessing isn't based on pleasure.Aye, that is why even though I am divorced and was against my will and my girlfriend divorced her husband for sexual immorality many times over, God has blessed our relationship. It is the best relationship that either her or I have been in and wouldn't be possible without God's hand on it.
We both have only been married once and when we marry each other will be together till we die.
