There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. —Romans 8:1-2

And you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. —Colossians 2:10-12

1 John 3:18-24
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Hi again @Will.s, here's another short passage for you to consider (and again, taking the time to read all of Ephesians 4 would be a very good idea, and a practical one in this case too ).

Ephesians 4
22 In reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Just one more, then I'll stop ;)

If you have the time, check out Romans 6.

--David
p.s. - if you don't mind me asking, are you struggling with your "thought-life", IOW, are you plagued or overwhelmed with painful, sinful thoughts that are a carryover from your pre-Christian days?

Thanks for the help. I'm just looking for scriptures for a possible message/teaching point.
Thanks again.

2 Corinthians 7:9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

"He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness." (Hebrews 5:2)

Instead of getting isolated with your sin problems, consider how we all can have problems. And you can use yours to help you feel for other people who have problems and understand what they are going through; and have compassion for us and pray for us.

Hi,
Does anyone know any scripture that adresses when a christian is stuck looking at their past sins and is forgetting to look at the the cleanliness and salvation of Jesus?

Thanks.

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 43:18-19

18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? ...

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

Isaiah 43:25

25 I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

If one has asked for forgiveness with a sincere heart and has repented (turned away from the sin) the sin has been forgiven.

The Lord wants us to accept His forgiveness and not harbor guilt about it. He wants us to forget it and begin a new life in Him and joyfully continue in Him.

Satan on the other hand wants us to doubt the forgiveness of Jesus and make us think we can't be forgiven ... that we are not worthy and never can be. By ourselves we are not worthy ... because we have Jesus ... He IS worthy and our sins ARE forgiven though Him.

Worthy is the Lamb!

Guilt is manifested in two different ways:

If one is experiencing guilt and NOT led to repentance that is from the evil one. The evil one will not lead one to repentance ... the evil one will not lead you to Christ to ask for forgiveness. The evil one wants to lead you away from Christ.

so this is how you know whether the guilt you are experiencing is from conviction of the Holy Spirit or if the guilt is coming from satan. Rebuke the evil one's guilty schemes ... In the name of Jesus away from me satan because I know Jesus has forgiven me!

Once you have confessed your sins to the Lord ... don't take them back nor allow satan to accuse you ... as Jesus simply says .... GO and sin no more .... begin anew .... this is the Joy of the Lord!

May the peace of the Lord be in your heart. Amen

It means, among other things, possibly, that what you have tried does not work. We need to personally submit to God Himself, for how He is able.

"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

And our Father corrects us so we are His way in His love >

correction > read Hebrews 12:4-14 > and trust how God is able to truly correct us . . . in our character . . . so it is our character to live the way His love has us living >

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

In God's love we do not just remember His goodness and holiness and cleanliness > we experience this, in sharing with Him in His love.
