The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith is a Calvinist Baptist document. Not all Baptists are Calvinists.
Understood. I used it because Major1 seems to be in the OSAS camp and that seems to lean more towards Calvinist thought than the more Arminian branches.

Provisionist Southern Baptists are not Calvinists (some Southern Baptists ARE Calvinist), but they still hold to OSAS.

I don't know how to peel that onion. To a Catholic, this seems nearly incomprehensible. We have our share of disagreements at the individual opinion level; but try to have a shared corporate belief system. After all, religious bodies are defined by sharing a common belief system.

The section on Mortal sin does not not touch on salvation at all. So you have made the claim. Please post your references that link the mortal sin of missing Mass with loss of salvation as you have stated.

On the Anglican Church's confession of sins and absolution, would someone who missed that service also receive that absolution?

From page 1....post #9--------------
The Catholic church teaches that missing Mass is a mortal sin.

Is that found in the Bible somewhere?

Ephesians 2:8-9...…...

"We are saved by grace through faith and not of yourselves least you would boast".

So according to the Scriptures, attending a church service has nothing to do with salvation and if we MUST attend a Mass service isn't that US DOING SOMETHING TO BE SAVED?

Mortal Sin: A grave sin committed with full knowledge and consent (1857 from the Catholic Catechism). Those who die in this state descend into hell (1035).

I am OSAS advocate and I am not a Calvanist.

I am a OSAS believer because that is what the Bible teaches us.

The key of course is "ONCE" saved.

MOD HAT ON

Ladies and gentlemen, this thread has had a cleanup. Please remember to address the topic and not each other, and not to make personal comments or use inflammatory words. Productive discussions can be had without resorting to that.

While this is private revelation, it does a great job explaining exactly what happens at Mass. It has recieved an Imprimatur.

The Holy Mass explained to Catalina by Jesus and Mary

For those who do not know...……..
Definition of imprimatur
1a : a license to print or publish by Roman Catholic episcopal authority.

This means, The Roman Catholic Church still issues imprimaturs for books concerned with religious matters (to indicate that a work contains nothing offensive to Catholic morals or faith).
Definition of IMPRIMATUR

So if the RCC issues such a decree, it does not matter if it is found in the Bible or not.

Doesnt matter. The Bible doesnt claim that all matters of faith must be in the bible. Unless you can shows us where it does, stop this silly line of logic.
