Forgiveness often benefits the person affected more than the perpetrator.

There is nothing worse than holding onto resentment and letting it eat away at us. Sometimes the pain of our anger and resentment is worse than the act that was originally caused.

Forgiveness brings us a new freedom and happiness. Our loads become lighter and our smiles become broader.

We have received forgiveness and we are called to forgive. It is one of the hardest things to do, but imperative to the gospel message.

Throughout the whole of Christendom, the Church's message has been tarred by the way it looks at and judge others. From the drownings, hangings, burnings of the middle ages through to the inflammatory tweets, blogs and news articles on social media in the 21st century. For many, the church still remains an exclusive club, with an emphasis on keeping the "right" people in and the "wrong" people out. I log online every day and see hundreds of articles posted by Christians on how we should judge our society and individuals. If only more of them were written about how we should share God's love and forgiveness. Imagine what a big difference that would make to our mission for Christ's kingdom.

I have lost count of the many times I have strayed, erred and let the Lord down. I have also lost count of the times He has forgiven me through His grace.

Wonderful. There is peace in being forgiven and peace in forgiving!
That wonderful peace that comes from the Lord, that the world cannot give.
