Adding my prayers for wisdom and discernment in all relational interactions. It definitely does not feel good to be taken advantage of so I also pray for God's hedge of protection around you as well that your kindness would be well received! Are you finding any patterns with certain people or certain situations where this is happening?

This brings to mind the ten lepers. Jesus healed them all, but only the one came back to show gratitude and praise. Luke 17:11-19

Lord, for StarryEyed, please help her to show your love to all people, but to be wise as a serpent. Please show her the healthy relationships - and please strengthen these! Amen.

I'm happy to pray for you. Have you ever read any books on boundaries? They are very helpful. You can learn how to discern when you should help someone and when you should let them learn on their own. We aren't called to enable people to stay stuck in the places where they need to grow.
I really recommend that you read some of Henry Cloud's books or Larry Crabb's books or just watch some of their videos on YouTube to get started.

The book Boundaries is terrific. I would also research the topic of Narcissistic Personality Disorders. People with that disorder will gravitate to, and try to exploit, those who are kind hearted and empathetic. The sad thing is that research shows that those NARCs don't change, so no matter what you do you are never really helping them, but boy can they hurt you! (In fact,research shows that apparently they are unable to do change - short of a miracle from the Lord - due to a deficiency of cortex in the empathy areas of the brain.)

Here is a link on the topic from a Christian psychologist. Of course I have no way of knowing if this is related to your issues, but one thing is very likely...you will have seen such people around you as they are pretty common, and channels like this one, and others, can help you know how to recognize them what to do when they come into your life.
