Presidents have to deal with power holders, whoever they are. They do not have the luxury of ideological purity, as we who sit behind keyboards do.

Yes he was. He and Truman also were really scared of Stalin and didn’t cut him in on the atomic bomb and they weren’t very trustful of him.

And in 1947 when Truman had his tank parade we were pretty much enemies with Stalin. If you can show me where in 1947 Truman was taking Stalin’s word over the US intelligence community I’d be interested to see it

Tanks in a parade is a negative thing, only when it snows in July. When I was about 4ish I remember military parades in my hometown a little town of about 10k half way between Oklahoma City and Ft Sill. There was an army general hospital in my town.
I wonder where all the cost comes from? If they don't have a parade the military still gets paid, they still drive tanks and trucks and fly airplanes etc. It costs the same to fly a B2 for a parade as it does for required qualification. As a military pilot I was required to fly a specific number of hours each month to remain current.

Yes he was! But he was as also the guy who helped the Right remind the Left that it was treason to side with the Russian Bear. My how things have changed...just within my lifetime!

Reagan understood the military should never be used for political purposes. Trump clearly does not as evidenced by his past behavior while speaking to military audiences.

Tanks on parade is just show biz. The far more meaningful way to honor our military personnel is to pay them well, provide them and their families with high quality housing, the best medical care, top-notch educational opportunities, and secure, generous retirement benefits.

Maybe it's a good thing if Trump ordered the military to use the tanks to take over airports like the Continental Army "took over the airports" from the British during the American Revolutionary War.

Being cordial and diplomatic to other world leaders does not mean he is "in love with" them. See what I was talking about incessant hate fest? He can't scratch his ear without some talking head on TV criticizing him.
