• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I think the Zoloft was helping me possibly. I've been off it for months now since I've been pregnant. The first three months off I didn't even notice. Slowly I am beginning to have familiar feelings of just being disturbed even during good times. I am starting to wake up started again worrying when loved ones aren't near by. Have nightmares frequently. Can't settle down. Repeated thoughts of wanting to self harm for comfort. Constant fears that I'm just waiting for something bad to happen and just utter hopelessness all the time.

It's all starting to come back.

I have the most negative thoughts frequently that I am just sitting around waiting around for everyone I care about to die and leave me alone until I die also. Or that life is completely a waste. That education and society have to robbed me of spending time with my family and I'll never be able to make enough money to help everyone before they die. Thoughts that I'll spend all my time with people I don't care about while I lose my family. Thoughts that I don't know who I am anymore because I've grown up and lost myself. Thoughts that I'm not happy. Thoughts that nothing can make me happy because society dictates all that is possible for me to achieve.

I am a postpartum nurse. Please go have this conversation with your OB and your psychiatrist. You may need to go back on the zoloft or some other anti-depressant...for your safety and your baby's. You baby cannot be healthy if you are not. You have made it through the most important period of time which is the first three months when the baby is forming. Now the baby is growing.

I have cared for lovely healthy babies who mothers did need to take antidepressants. But this needs to be discussed with your doctors to find the right dosages and the right medication to protect the both of you. Call the doctors and let them know about the problems you are recognizing and request to get in as soon as possible. This is really an emergency situation.

I will be praying for you.

My daughter was told that the only anti-depressant that was safe to use during breastfeeding was Zoloft. She had PPD. She has been on it for most of her breastfeeding with no ill effects. Her twins pediatrician okayed it too. Is it contra-indicated in pregnancy?
