May I also be frank with the current discussion?
For me personally, I thought that if I researched the darkness in this world that I could be a light to it through God's Word. That was a complete mistake for me, as there are reasons why God pulls some people out of other religions to be a light within that circle of religion they were in before knowing Christ. In other words, we don't have to go out of our way to do this kind of research when we have and believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Word of God.
The Light is right before us and yet we miss it completely at times (stumble).
Doing this kind of research really messed me up. I was starting to have memory gaps in between what I was studying from the darkness of this world and studying God's Word. What I mean is, I would remember the wrong things according to the Bible and get mixed up that way with the truth. I also made the mistake of believing man's words without testing them first. This is actually what brought me to God at the cross in the first place. There was so much deception that I was believing by mistake. Thank God for His Grace!
Lastly with what I'm getting at is that we must have a heart for God, which is why He gave us His Word because He gave His heart (spelling puzzle fun: earth) to us first. He died so that Israel could marry Him again as He once divorced them in the OT, but He also at the same time died for all. The whole Bible is about Jesus Christ right from the beginning. That is really amazing to me!
