What makes you believe some not others...since we are all strangers for the most part?Honestly, for the most part I don't.
Anyone who believes you can lose your salvation most likely isn't saved. True born again Christians believe grace is a free gift, that we are saved by the finished work of the cross in Jesus Christ alone, and nothing we do, no amount of works we do can affect our justification before God, and scripture says this. It's usually an easy way to spot who is born again and who isn't. Though some may be saved just in a season of deception.
As long we continue to remain in a state of grace.
What makes you believe some not others...since we are all strangers for the most part?
Hello, those people that mention in Hebrew 6:4-6, is illustrated by verse 7&8...In Hebrews 6:4-8 we've the reason why growth cannot be thought of in certain people's case. We must examine this passage closely if we want to grasp the meaning.
Priscilla declares that it's an impossibility for certain persons to be renewed, to be brought back a second time to repentance. These persons she characterizes by a description involving four points.
The people whom she has in mind are such as have been enlightened by the Spirit through the Word, former Christians, such as had been called out of godlessness' darkness to the light in Jesus.
The people referred to by Priscilla are such as have tasted the heavenly gift, salvation's gift in Jesus as grace's gift, sins' forgiveness, adoption's blessings, joy in the Spirit.
They've become the Spirit's partakers, they've been sealed with the Spirit, our inheritance's earnest until the possession's redemption.
They've tasted God's Word and the future life. They've felt the influence which God’s Word exerts.
They've experienced God's power of God unto salvation, blessings' vehicle. They've, by faith, anticipated the future life's enjoyment, being heaven's partakers in hope.
No, losing your salvation is a false teaching that leads to hell. In fact I'm at the point in my walk where I am mature enough to break fellowship with anyone who doesn't believe in OSAS. It really is part of fundamental core doctrine all Christians must agree on. If you don't, you aren't saved. Because you don't trust Jesus alone and think you can do something to get saved or lose salvation. Your teaching is heresy from the pit of hell, and I rebuke it in Jesus' mighty name.
Agreed that salvation is a gift. Can gifts never be lost? Can gifts never be forfeited?
A gift can be lost if we don't know it "value" so we don't think of it as an important gift ....but the one who know the value of the gift to him is a Precious Possession...Agreed that salvation is a gift. Can gifts never be lost? Can gifts never be forfeited?
My condolences.Mostly because everything I read on here I've heard before. That's not meant to seem arrogant, it's just that there are really only a handful or so discussions we can have here on conflicting beliefs. The rest are relatively small details here and there.
For the most part I've heard, read, or studied just about every point of view you might find here. Probably more importantly, I have at one time or another held most of those beliefs myself. And by process of elimination I've sorted through them all. For fifteen years now I have held the beliefs of the Orthodox Church. And over those fifteen years I have never heard a successful argument against the Orthodox Church.
Thank you keep hearing the same arguements...that kinda stinks.Go ahead. Why would condolences be in order?
I think the reason it goes in circles, is due to not fully understanding the "Heavenly Father's" Sovereignty, or absolute omniscience and foresight from the very beginning, ect...So, once one is saved, they cannot be or become unsaved or lost correct, or they were never truly saved in the first place, right, or what kind of discussion do you expect to get into here with this topic...?
It's beating a dead horse to me anymore, as you or we will "go in circles" basically...
But, what kind of discussion are you wishing to have about this topic...?
God Bless!
Not if they ever truly had them to begin with...Agreed that salvation is a gift. Can gifts never be lost? Can gifts never be forfeited?
I would say you can't, or more accurately, you "won't", ever lose salvation, if you ever truly had it to begin with...The doctrine of losing salvation stems from unbelief in the gospel
how does one remain in a state of grace? just curious. to remain requires action what actions must be performed? outside of initial faith to salvation how is one to remain? was his sacrifice incomplete to fully save or does Christ need help from the ones who are in need of a savior. Christ and his finished work is enough.
The Holy Spirit "hates" our pride though...We are justified by God's act of removing the guilt and penalty of sin. We are made righteous through Christ's atoning sacrifice.
At baptism, Christians make promises to God. They reject the devil and all rebellion against God, renounce the deceit and corruption of evil, repent of the sins that separate us from God and neighbour, turn to Christ as Saviour and submit to Him as Lord, and vow to remain faithful to Christ for the rest of their life. They are promises made before God and professed publically.
When we repent of our sins and allow the Lord to transform us, when we love others, and seek to do the common good, and persevere in the faith, we live in a state of sanctifying grace. Sanctification is the ongoing process in which we become transformed by the Holy Spirit working in our lives.
When a person falls into grave sin, such as apostasy, publically renouncing their faith, or choosing to live in deliberate and persistent sin, they fall from that state of grace. If they choose to repent and come back to the Lord then they will be forgiven.
The bible clearly says those who trust partly in their works won't make it... I'm not even the one saying it, God is. Death was the punishment to those who worked on the sabbath in old testament times, and that was a foreshadow to now when God says rest and you work (for righteousness I mean and to be justified) you will get destroyed as well because you need to rest in Jesus and his finished work. This is absolutely key, and it makes Christianity different from religion when the focus becomes on Jesus and not yourself or your works.easy friend i am fully osac but to say someone who is still trusting in Jesus and works is not saved is going to far. for most of us who are osac were trying by the law at one time as well. but i can tell you even in those times i was a son of the most high. if God is love then he is love if the work was finished on the cross ones misunderstanding of scripture is the same as anothers transgression. Gods hand is for our good all of ours. he is the finisher of our faith God makes these calls. judas never had interest in following the Lord but peter did and in my opinion peter was trying to earn it at times. put some thought into this brother.
